Kwame Nkrumah University (KNUST is inviting applications from qualified applicants for admission into the Engineering Undergraduate Top-up and Nursing Access Programme for the 2024/2025 academic year.

The Institute of Distance Learning, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, wishes to inform prospective students and the general public that Application Forms for Admission to the following Undergraduate Top-Up Programmes of the University through the Distance Learning Mode for the 2024/2025 Academic Year are now on sale.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS, and SPECIAL CASES.

Undergraduate Top-Up Programmes (Five Semesters)
  1. BSc. Agricultural Engineering
  2. BSc. Civil Engineering
  3. BSc. Computer Engineering
  4. BSc. Electrical and Electronic Engineering

ACCESS COURSE FOR NURSES

Admission into Pre-Bridging Programme for Certificate Holders from Health Training Institutions (ACCESS COURSE)

An access course is being organised for holders of certificates in any of the following:

  1. Health Assistants Clinical (HAC)
  2. Post-Basic Midwifery
  3. Community Health Nurses (CHN)

NOTE:

  1. Holders of the above-mentioned certificates or any other certificates from institutions that are not accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) of Ghana should not apply.
  2. The Nurses Access Course is for applicants with shortcomings regarding entry requirements into the Nursing Diploma programme.
  3. The Access Course will start in January 2020.
Entry Requirements for Undergraduate Top-Up Programmes

1. BSc. Agricultural Engineering

  • HND in Agricultural Engineering or its equivalent diploma certificate from an accredited institution

2. BSc. Civil Engineering

The programme seeks to upgrade HND Civil Engineering and Diploma in Civil Engineering certificate holders to BSc level. Entry requirements are:

  1. A minimum of Second Class (Upper Division) in HND from a recognised Polytechnic;
  2. A minimum of Second Class (Upper) or equivalent Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution
  3. A minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant field of work

3. BSc. Computer Engineering

  • HND in Computer Engineering/Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering or an equivalent diploma certificate

4. BSc. Geomatic Engineering

  • HND in Surveying or Diploma in Geodetic/Geomatics Engineering or its equivalent from an accredited institution

5. BSc. Electrical and Electronic Engineering

  • HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering/Computer Engineering/Telecommunication Engineering or an equivalent diploma certificate

6. BSc. Mechanical Engineering

  • HND or it’s equivalent diploma certificate from an accredited institution in any of the following mechanical engineering disciplines:
  1. Production Engineering
  2. Plant Engineering
  3. Automobile Engineering
  4. Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning
  5. Foundry Technology

7. BSc. Telecommunication Engineering

  1. HND in Telecommunication Engineering
  2. HND in Electrical and Electronic Engineering/Computer Engineering or an equivalent Diploma Certificate

8. BSc. Petroleum Engineering (online only)

  1. HND in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering
  2. First Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry

9. BSc. Chemical Engineering (online only)

    HND or it’s equivalent in Chemical Engineering

KWAME NKRUMAH UNIVERSITY IDL ENGINEERING TOP-UP & NURSING ADMISSION APPLICATION GUIDELINES

Applicants should carefully read all the following instructions before starting the application process.

  1. Undergraduate Top-Up applicants should purchase an online application e-voucher from GCB Bank, Ecobank, Consolidated Bank-Ghana, and Republic Bank and then apply online. Applicants should carefully follow the instructions on the e-voucher.

Online e-vouchers can also be purchased via bank’ draft, payable to KNUST Institute of Distance Learning; submit the bank draft to any of the under-listed IDL centres for e-vouchers; and then proceed to apply online.

  1. Nursing Access programme applicants should visit any bank of their choice and purchase a GH¢150.00 bankers’ draft, payable to KNUST Institute of Distance Learning; submit the bank draft to any of the under-listed IDL centres for their e-vouchers; and then proceed to apply online.

  2. Applicants must include in their application pack certified true copies of their certificates and transcripts.
  3. Only results and documents provided by applicants at the time of submission of their applications shall be considered.

  5. Facilitation may be a blend of online and face-to-face sessions on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) at the proposed centres mentioned above.

Cost of Application: E-Voucher

The e-voucher cost is as follows:

  1. All Undergraduate TOP-UP ProgrammesGH¢200.00 for Ghanaian Applicants and US$100 for Foreign Applicants
  2. Access Course for Nurses: Purchase BANKER’S DRAFT of GH¢150.00 payable to KNUST Institute of Distance Learning (KNUST-IDL)
