Application for the Young Researchers Grants at University of Fribourg in Switzerland 2019 Entry is now open for International Students. The University of Fribourg will be offering Scholarship for Young Researchers (PhD and Postdoctoral Level). Scholarships are awarded to foreign researchers domiciled abroad.

The Scholarships are one of the most prestigious scholarships in the world. The aim of the program is to create a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

YOUNG RESEARCHERS GRANTS ELIGIBILITY

Scholars are selected on the following criteria:

For PhD student:

  1. Minimum inscription of two semesters at a foreign university recognized by the University of Fribourg at doctoral level (not being registered at the University of Fribourg)
  2. Foreign residence
  3. Being younger than 35 upon arrival at the University of Fribourg
  4. Being engaged in a research project at the University of Fribourg
  5. Having submitted a complete file

For Post-Docs:

  1. Holding a Doctor’s title that was completed within the last three years at a foreign university recognized by the University of Fribourg
  2. Foreign residence
  3. Being employed or involved in research at a foreign research centre of a foreign university
  4. Having submitted a complete file

English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.

YOUNG RESEARCHERS GRANTS APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

 Candidates submit a successful application by completing the following steps:

  • Complete application-form with digital ID picture (JPEG Format)
  • Curriculum vitae/Resume
  • Description of the research-project at the University of Fribourg
  • Description of the necessity of a scholarship for the implementation of the research-project
  • Confirmation letter by the professor of the University of Fribourg that accepts to accompany the scholar during the stay 6. Confirmation letter by the professor that accompanied the doctorate from the foreign University
  • Confirmation of the university that the scholar has been inscribed for a doctorate for at least two semesters 8. Bachelor’s Diploma or primary equivalent university diploma from a university recognized by the University of Fribourg
  • Master’s Diploma or equivalent college-diploma from a foreign university recognized by the University of Fribourg
  • Grade report of the Bachelor and Master studies (transcript)
  • Confirmation of residence
  • Copy of passport

Apply online. The application files have to be sent in two formats (original by mail and copy by email/Zip format).

The diplomas and official confirmations in the application-file have to be included as accredited copies of the originals or have to be translated. Languages accepted for the documents or translations are German, English, French and Italian. If the documents included are in a different language, only translations by an officially recognized translator are accepted and have to be accredited.

The complete application files have to be sent to the following address: University of Fribourg, International Relations Office, Avenue de l’ Europe 20, 1700 Fribourg – Switzerland and international-scholarship-at-unifr.ch.

  • Only applications that have been submitted (with the International Office and registered on the website of the scholarship) before February 28, 2019 will be considered for the scholarship.
