The South Valley University, SVU Admission Requirements: 2024/2025 for all the courses at the undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate level is updated every year. Therefore, this article contains the full list of all the undergraduate and Postgraduate courses coupled with their general requirements.
For admission into programmes of study at the South Valley University, SVU for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for a successful admission.
SOUTH VALLEY UNIVERSITY, SVU UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Entry requirements for all degree programmes:
Compulsory entry requirements
Five(5) ‘O’ Levels at credit level or the equivalent in the following subjects as follows:-
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Biology or General Science
- Any other Two (2) subjects
A. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING PROGRAM:
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR IN-SERVICE (REGISTERED NURSES/ REGISTERED MIDWIVES)
In addition to the compulsory requirements, candidates should have the following:
- Registered Nurse Diploma or Equivalent qualifications for those trained outside the country
- A valid practising license
B. BACHELOR OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES
i. Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences (Crop Sciences)
ii. Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences (Soil Sciences)
iii. Bachelor of Agricultural Sciences (Animal Sciences)
C. BACHELOR OF BIOMEDICAL SCIENCES
In addition to the compulsory requirements, candidates should have the following:
- A Biomedical diploma or Equivalent qualifications in Laboratory studies
Compulsory requirements apply for all in-service
- N.B 1. The BSc Nursing Program has been approved by the General Nursing Council of Zambia to be offered by South Valley University via Online platform coupled with a Residential School of two weeks at a time.
- N.B 2. The BSc Biomed Program has been approved by Health Profession Council of Zambia to be offered by South Valley University via online platform coupled with a Residential School of two weeks at a time.
SOUTH VALLEY UNIVERSITY, SVU POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Entry requirements for a Postgraduate degree Programme
- A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited University in a subject or subjects relevant to the course applied for.
Entry requirements for a Masters Degree Programme
- For admission to the Master’s Degree of a candidate shall either hold an honours degree of the or a qualification from an approved institution of higher learning, deemed to be equivalent to an honours degree of the SVU University.
- Candidates who hold unclassified degrees should have a credit or, a distinction in the subject of the intended Master’s Degree.
Admission Requirements For Specific Courses
MSc Medical Biochemistry
- A good Bachelor of Science degree or medical degree shall be normally required.
The major categories of MSc students shall be:
- BSc graduates(biological or physical sciences) with a view to a research career in biochemistry.
- Qualified doctors and others teaching or intending to teach in medical or other health schools (particularly in developing countries).
- Persons with BSc or professional qualifications and experience working in the nursing or paramedical and allied fields.
Master of Science Medical Microbiology
A good Bachelor of Science degree or medical degree shall be normally required. The major categories of MSc students shall be:
- BSc graduates(biological or physical sciences) with a view to a research career in biochemistry.
- Qualified doctors and others teaching or intending to teach in medical or other health schools (particularly in developing countries).
- Persons with BSc or professional qualifications and experience working in the nursing or paramedical and allied fields.
MSc in Physiology
A good Bachelor of Science degree or medical degree shall be normally required. The major categories of MSc students shall be:
- BSc graduates(biological or physical sciences) with a view to a research career in biochemistry.
- Qualified doctors and others teaching or intending to teach in medical or other health schools (particularly in developing countries).
- Persons with BSc or professional qualifications and experience working in the nursing or paramedical and allied fields.
MSc in Nursing
The following shall be eligible to apply for admission to the Degree of Masters in Nursing.
- Graduates of the University of Zambia with BSc. Nursing Degree with at least a Merit.
- Graduates with BSc. Nursing Degree from any recognized University in the world with a passing grade equivalent to that in 1 above.
- Any other qualified persons who can satisfy the Senate: as having equivalent standing to graduates of the University in terms of number 1 above; and as to their fitness to pursue postgraduate studies
- Graduates of sufficiently high standard that have demonstrated competence to undertake postgraduate studies.
Master of Science Pathology (Clinical pathology)
A good Bachelor of Science degree or medical degree shall be normally required. The major categories of MSc students shall be:
- BSc graduates(biological or physical sciences) with a view to a research career in biochemistry.
- Qualified doctors and others teaching or intending to teach in medical or other health schools (particularly in developing countries).
- Persons with BSc or professional qualifications and experience working in the nursing or paramedical and allied fields.
Master of Science Pathology (Chemical Pathology)
A good Bachelor of Science degree or medical degree shall be normally required. The major categories of MSc students shall be:
- BSc graduates(biological or physical sciences) with a view to a research career in biochemistry.
- Qualified doctors and others teaching or intending to teach in medical or other health schools (particularly in developing countries).
- Persons with BSc or professional qualifications and experience working in the nursing or paramedical and allied fields.
