Application for the UNHCR Humanitarian Youth Ambassador Programme For Zambian Students – 2022/2023 Entry is now open by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
Would you like to be a Humanitarian Youth Ambassador for the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR?
In 2019, UNHCR is starting a programme for Humanitarian Youth Ambassadors in Zambia to bring awareness about refugees world-wide and In Zambia, International refugee law and human rights standards and to combat discrimination in the schools and universities. Following a three-month training, and completing assignments, the ambassadors will be awarded a certificate of recognition.
Twenty university students {10 Zambians, 10 refugees) will be selected for a four
- Month programme of activit ies including:
- Training on international and Zambian refugee law, UNHCR’s mandate and refugees In the world,
- Training in advocacy, communication and facilitation skills,
- Study visits to UN agencies in Zambia,
- Communication of experiences, lessons learned through multiple media
- Policy analysis and recommendation with UN, CSO and government
- Field visit to a refugee settlement In Zambia,
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is a United Nations programme with the mandate to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people, and assist in their voluntary repatriation, local integration or resettlement to a third country.
UNHCR HUMANITARIAN YOUTH AMBASSADOR PROGRAMME ELIGIBILITY
Scholars are selected on the following criteria:
- You must be a student, pursuing studies in Education, Development Studies, Law or Social Work.
- Passionate about Humanitarian issues, SDGs and willing to be a solution finder
- An avid writer with an interest to communicate through various forms of media 4.Willing to engage with communities and people of diverse status
