The Amgen Scholars Program provides hundreds of selected undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on research experience at many of the world’s leading educational institutions. Award amount will vary according to the host institution

The Amgen Foundation seeks to advance science education, improve quality of care and access for patients, and strengthen the communities where Amgen staff members live and work. To date, the Foundation has donated over $200 million to local, regional, and international nonprofit organizations that impact society in inspiring and innovative ways.

The Scholarships are one of the most prestigious scholarships in the world. The aim of the program is to create a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.

AMGEN SCHOLARS PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

Scholars are selected on the following criteria:

  • award is open to worldwide students.
  • Enrolled in colleges or universities worldwide that award a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent); and
  • At a minimum, have completed their first year of undergraduate study at the time the summer program begins, and
  • Are not graduating before the summer program begins, and after the summer program ends will resume undergraduate studies for at least 1 semester or 1 quarter
  • Enrolled in colleges or universities worldwide that award a bachelor’s degree (or its equivalent); and
  • At a minimum, have completed their first year of undergraduate study at the time the summer program begins, and
  • Are not graduating before the summer program begins, and after the summer program ends will resume undergraduate studies for at least 1 semester or 1 quarter
  • A good working knowledge of English, demonstrated by a minimum TOEFL (iBT) score of 72, IELTS overall band score of 5.5, Cambridge English FCE, TOEIC score of 1095, TOEIC L&R score of 785, or TOEIC S&W score of 310, if not a native English speaker or English is not your first language.

AMGEN SCHOLARS PROGRAM APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

  •  To apply, click on the host institution in which you are interested. After reading about the Program at that particular host institution, follow the link to that institution’s Amgen Scholars Program website. You’ll find the Amgen Scholars application there.

Application must include:

  • Each host institution has its own application process. You can apply to participate at as many host institutions as you are interested in as long as you meet the eligibility criteria. The application at each host institution requires, at a minimum, the submission of an official transcript, a letter of recommendation, and a personal statement or essay.
  • Only applications that have been submitted (with the International Office and registered on the website of the scholarship) before Early February 2020 will be considered.
