The educational fund is available to both domestic and international students in order to take the postgraduate research program at the university in Australia. The university will provide all the following: The sponsorship will provide an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate for up to two years for a successful master by research recipient, and up to three years for a successful PhD recipient, subject to satisfactory academic performance. If the successful recipient relocates their place of residence they may claim an allowance for eligible expenses of up to $515 for each eligible adult and $255 for each eligible child, up to a maximum $1485 for each scholarship recipient. A successful master’s by research recipient may claim up to $420 while a successful PhD recipient may claim up to $840 in thesis allowance, within one year of thesis submission and no more than two years after scholarship end date.

DBH FUNDING ELIGIBILITY

Scholars are selected on the following criteria:

  • Australian permanent resident, a citizen of a Commonwealth country or Germany are welcome to apply.
  • The sponsorship will be awarded in different fields such as Geology and geophysics and Social effects of alcoholism.

For Geology and geophysics, applicants must:

  • be a citizen of any Commonwealth country or permanent residents of Australia
  • have an unconditional offer of admission or be enrolled full-time in master’s by research or a PhD
  • be undertaking or willing to undertake research in the field of geology and geophysics
  • have completed at least one of the following:
  • honours degree (first-class or second class upper), or master’s degree in a related field with a substantial research component, or an equivalent qualification.
  • be a citizen of Germany
  • have an unconditional offer of admission or be enrolled full-time in master’s by research or a PhD
  • have completed at least one of the following:
  • honours degree (first-class or second class upper), or master’s degree in a related field with a substantial research component, or an equivalent qualification.

For Social effects of alcoholism, candidates must:

  • be a citizen of any Commonwealth country or permanent residents of Australia
  • have an unconditional offer of admission or be enrolled full-time in master’s by research or a PhD
  • be undertaking or willing to undertake research related to the social effects of alcoholism
  • have completed at least one of the following:
  • honours degree (first-class or second class upper), or
  • master’s degree in a related field with a substantial research component, or
  • an equivalent qualification.
  • To participate in this application, the applicants must have a conditional or unconditional offer of admission for full-time studies in a Masters by Research or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.
  • All students whose first language is not English must also meet the University’s English language requirements.

  • Only applications that have been submitted (with the International Office and registered on the website of the scholarship) before February 15, 2020  will be considered.
