ICAT Fellowships for International Students in Ireland – 2022/2023


Application for the ICAT Fellowships for International Students in Ireland – 2022/2023. Entry is now open at the Irish Clinical Academic Training in Ireland.



This scholarship is exclusively offered to all excellent postgraduate clinical trainees across all disciplines of human medicine, veterinary medicine, and dentistry that want to apply for the ICAT programme. The selected students will be provided coverage of their education costs incurred to pursue an eligible programme at either of the partner universities in Ireland. The selected candidates will be offered scholarships to undertake the ICAT programme in either of its partner universities.

The Irish Clinical Academic Training (ICAT) Programme is a unique all Ireland cross-institutional, comprehensive national programme for Clinician Scientists based at six major Irish universities and their affiliated hospital groups.

The Scholarships are one of the most prestigious scholarships in the world. The aim of the program is to create a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.



Scholars are selected on the following criteria:

  • All international, as well as domestic students, are eligible to apply.
  • Students can apply for study programmes in medical and dental, and veterinary.
  • The applicants must be eligible to work in the Republic of Ireland or the United Kingdom at the time of application.
  • The applicants must be medical, dental, and veterinary specialties.
  • The applicants must have an MVB or equivalent veterinary degree or a relevant specialist (European Board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS), American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA)) training programme or equivalent.
  • The students must meet the language requirements of their partner universities. TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, etc are widely accepted standardized language tests.


  • The applicants are first required to submit a pre-application form which will lead them to the application process. All eligible students will be considered automatically.

  • Past academic achievements
  • Personal statement
  • Research project
  • Only applications that have been submitted (with the International Office and registered on the website of the scholarship) before 20th April, 2022  will be considered.
