Every year the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) publishes vacant position for interested & qualified Kenyan citizens to apply for. This year is not an exception. Therefore the Jobs are listed below together with their requirements, roles, salary and qualifications.

The Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) was set up in 2015 to help coordinate and harmonize education, training, assessment and quality assurance of all qualifications awarded in the country; with the view to improving quality and international comparability. The KNQF which the authority has developed and is now implementing is part of Kenya’s international commitments to develop an accurate, reliable and robust database of all qualifications in the country that will allow for comparability and information sharing in the education sector globally.

VACANT POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS IN KNQA

Applications are invited from qualified persons for the positions shown below

1. DEPUTY DIRECTOR LEARNERS RECORD DATABASE
  • Term 5 Years Contract | Positions: 1 | Deadline: Oct. 2, 2020

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

Job Term:

  • 5 Years Contract

Position Level:

  • KNQA GRADE 3

Remuneration:

  • Basic Salary Scale (KSH) Ksh 115,599- Ksh 187,767 pm

For appointment to this grade an officer must have at least:

    1. Ten (10) years working relevant work experience eight (8) of which must have been in management;
    2. Bachelor’s Degree (KNQF Level 7 or equivalent) in any of the following disciplines: – Information Technology, Computer Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, ICT Project Management, Computer Engineering or any other relevant and equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
    3. Master’s Degree (KNQF Level 9 or equivalent) in any of the following disciplines: – Information Technology, Computer Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, ICT Project Management, Computer Engineering, MIS, Data Security and Integrity, Data Analysis or related field from a recognized university in Kenya;
  • Doctorate (KNQF Level 10 or equivalent) in MIS, Data Security and Integrity, Data Analysis or related field from a recognized university in Kenya is an added advantage;
  1. Member of an ICT professional body;
  2. Project Management Certification such as PRINCE2, PMP or other equivalent qualifications;
  3. Experience in developing and maintaining Learners Record database;
  4. IT management certification such as CompTIA Project+, CAPM, CGEIT, CSM,
  5. CISSP, COBIT or other equivalent qualifications;
  6. Information Security certification such as CISM, CEH, CompTIA Security+, CISSP, GSEC or other equivalent qualifications;
  7. Professional certification such as CCNP, CDCP, CCNA Cloud, CCNA Industrial/IoT, CCNA, MCSE, MCSA, MCSD, N+, A+ OCA, CISSP, Linux+, Network+, Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) or their equivalent;
  8. Attended a Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution; and
  9. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Developing, implementing, and maintaining of systems;
  2. Carrying out systems analysis, design and programmer specifications in liaison with users;
  3. Ensuring adherence to established database standards;
  4. Compiling overall systems documentation;
  5. Supervising installation certification, repairs and maintenance of database equipment, solutions and associated peripherals;
  6. Recommending and supervising Hardware/Software specifications for database equipment;
  7. Administering and maintaining web-based systems and database server’s configuration;
  8. Documenting KNQA network configurations and passwords of critical systems;
  9. Undertake risk management and Business continuity;
  10. Maintaining Systems Security and Databases;
  11. Enforcing implementation of database policies and procedures;
  12. Assisting in LRD Planning, Budgeting, Project Management and Reporting; 
  13. Management of outsourced LRD services and service providers; and
  14. Development and maintenance of the Authority’s intranet.

2. DEPUTY DIRECTOR, PLANNING, RESEARCH, OUTREACH & POLICY 

Term 5 Years Contract | Positions: 1 | Deadline: Oct. 2, 2020

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree

Job Term:

  • 5 Years Contract

Position Level:

  • KNQA GRADE 3

Remuneration:

  • Basic Salary Scale (KSH) Ksh 115,599- Ksh 187,767 pm

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: –

  1. Ten (10) years relevant work experience eight (8) of which must have been in management;
  2. Bachelor’s degree (KNQF Level 7 or equivalent) in Education, Economics, statistics, Project Management, Social Sciences, Science or related field from a recognized university;
  3. Master’s Degree (KNQF Level 9 or equivalent) in Curriculum development, quality assurance, assessment and examination, Economics, TVET Education, Statistics, Project Management, Sciences, Social Science, Higher education or related field from a recognized university;
  4. Doctorate (KNQF Level 10 or equivalent) in Curriculum development, quality assurance, assessment and examination, Economics, Statistics, Project Management, Sciences, Social Science, Higher education or related field from a recognized university is an added advantage;
  5. Professional qualification and membership where applicable;
  6.  Attended a Management course lasting not less four (4) weeks;
  7. Proficiency in computer applications; and
  8. Fulfil the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Conducting research on critical issues regarding Qualification Frameworks;
  2. Preparation of research proposals on the KNQF;
  3. Publishing and disseminating research findings on KNQF;
  4. Formulation, implementation and review of research policies and strategies;
  5. Liaising with the government and other stakeholders on implementation of research findings;
  6. Mobilizing funds to supplement the KNQA’s budget on research;
  7. Promoting and strengthening research and consultancy within the Authority;
  8. Establish networks with relevant research institutions;
  9. Coordinating the planning, implementation and review of policies and strategies on the development of KNQF;
  10. Managing the ISO Certification process of the KNQA; Managing Performance contracting activities of the Institution;
  11. Planning and formulation of the Authority’s development and resource mobilization strategies;
  12. Coordinating the implementation of the Authority’s strategic plans, Annual work plans and annual reports;
  13. Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance the KNQA brand identity, broaden awareness of KNQF and increase visibility across key stakeholder audiences;
  14. Write, update, edit and oversee production and design of printed materials, books and newsletters; 
  15.  Prepare photography and other media for publication and maintain digital media library Social Media, Website and E-Marketing;
  16. Supervise establishment of the KNQF library and repositories;
  17. Work with staff and stakeholders to develop and implement social networking strategies, develop content and monitor and respond to inquiries regarding the KNQF;
  18. Monitoring adherence and implementation of the departmental work plans;
  19.  Write wish grant testimonials for website and social media; and 
  20. Send brochures and materials to stakeholders for distribution to their circles of influence.

  4. On the jobs list, click on view details to access the details of a particular job
  5. At the bottom section of the job’s detail, click on Apply to submit your application
  6. In case you have mistakenly submitted an application for a position you do not qualify for, you can withdraw it by clicking on “Withraw(Cancel) Application button” under “My Applications” tab. This feature will only be available util 5 days to the deadline.
