The aims to the program strengthen New Zealand institutions’ connections with their counterparts in key Latin America countries, promote understanding of the strength and quality of New Zealand’s education system and raise awareness in Latin America of New Zealand as a preferred education destination. The education is awarded to individuals and currently covers the following costs relating to the study, internship or research in Latin America: Individuals on the exchange, internship or other independent programs; Tuition fees of Latin American institutions (not NZ fees), Internship brokerage fees, Return economy class flights NZ-Latin America – NZ$2,500, and Contribution to living, accommodation, visa, insurance, etc costs of $270 per week on a study program. While for Individuals on group programs; New Zealand Tertiary providers/institutions may apply to the PMSLA to fund a group (3+) to travel together to Latin America on a specified program that meets PMSLA goals, Group programs are applied for separately under the PMSLA and have their own application and reporting requirements. Funding for individuals on group programs is as above.

Preference is currently for applicants undertaking appropriate programs in Colombia and Brazil. Other Latin American countries such as Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and Peru are also included. Individuals or groups may check with ENZ if preferred destination institution is not listed as having a formal relationship with a New Zealand institution.

PRIME MINISTER SCHOLARSHIPS ELIGIBILITY

Scholars are selected on the following criteria:

  • Home, EU, and international students are eligible to apply for these endowments.
  • Before applying, applicants should have an offer to study on a School of Life Sciences full-time MSc course starting October 2019.
  • Applicants should have an excellent academic track record, typically the equivalent of a British 1st Class Honours Degree. the program Review Panel will assess both academic achievement and the supporting statement when awarding.
  • For conditional offer holders, Awards will also be conditional on achieving any language requirements and the awardee’s final predicted grade.
  • SLS Excellence The studentships are for self-funded students only. Students with other partial funding may be considered. Recipients should inform Dr Charlotte Moonan ([email protected]) if they are in receipt of another scholarship or are later awarded other funding.
  • Applications for SLS Excellence The studentships are welcome from home, EU and international students.
  • SLS Excellence The studentships are paid towards tuition fees only.
  • SLS Excellence financial aid positions will be awarded across all Life Sciences full-time MSc Programmes to maximize nationality and gender diversity.
  • Scholarship recipients will be asked to carry out some ambassadorial duties for the School.
  • Applicants should have an excellent academic track record, typically the equivalent of a British 1st Class Honours Degree. the program Review Panel will assess both academic achievement and the supporting statement when awarding.

  • To apply, students must be ready to submit the Curriculum Vitae, Proof of Citizenship, Officially verified Academic Transcripts, a 120-second video.
  • Only applications that have been submitted (with the International Office and registered on the website of the scholarship) before August 30, 2020  will be considered.
