University of Southern California, USC Online Application Forms - 2020 Admission

This article contains information on the University of Southern California, USC application form and Requirements for admission into Undergraduate Degree, Diploma Programmes  and Postgraduate for the 2020/2021 academic year.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON SCHOOL LEAVERS and SPECIAL CASES.

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ADMISSION GUIDELINES AND FORMS

Application for admission may be made at any time after completion of the junior year of high school. Applications are considered on a competitive basis as related to test scores, academic history (high school and college), academic and professional references, and an essay.

Applicants who submit complete applications and supporting materials by the deadlines will meet the priority deadlines.

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA APPLICATION STEPS AND REQUIREMENTS

All students are required to submit the following items prior to the deadline date:

Freshmen Applicants

Kindly follow the steps below for a successful application

Step 1: Start and Complete the Common Application Online through Common Application and USC Writing Supplement

Step 2: Gather, Submit Necessary Documents and application should include:

  • Official Test Scores: USC requires either SAT or ACT scores from all first-year applicants. For students who take the SAT more than once, USC records the highest scores for each section — Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Mathematics — even if achieved in different sittings. For the ACT, USC will just consider the highest composite score. USC does not require the writing section for either the ACT or the SAT general test.
  • Transcripts: First-year applicants should submit official transcripts of all high school and college coursework completed.
  • Letter(s) of Recommendation: One letter is required from either your school counsellor or a teacher from your school. Applicants to the School of Cinematic Arts must submit three letters of recommendation.
  • Portfolio, resumé and/or additional writing samples: if required by major. Performance majors may also require auditions.
  • Submit your fall grades (when available): Use the Mid-Year Report Form included in the Common Application or visit admission.usc.edu/midyeargrades to submit your fall grades.
  • Application Affirmations: Affirmations will be available in the portal after your application is received. Your digital signature may be submitted after the application deadline.

Transfer Students

  • The Common Application is required for students applying as transfers to USC campus. Please ensure that you complete the Common Application.

Transfer Students Application should include the following:

  • Official final high school transcripts with date of graduation.
    • Students who completed secondary school outside the US may substitute a copy of a diploma or leaving certificate.
    • Students who did not finish high school should also submit a copy of their completion certificate (such as a GED) and may also submit a letter of explanation.
  • All official college transcripts. Official transcripts of any and all college coursework completed through the fall term.
  • SAT or ACT Scores. Required from applicants who have completed fewer than 30-semester units of college coursework.
  • Letter(s) of recommendation. (Optional, although may be required for some majors.)
  • Portfolio, resumé and/or additional writing samples: if required by major. Performance majors may also require auditions.
  • Application Affirmations: Affirmations will be available in the portal after we receive your application. Your digital signature may be submitted after the application deadline

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA APPLICATION FEE

The undergraduate application fee is $85, payable online via the Common Application when you submit your application for admission. The fee applies to all applicants, regardless of state of residency or citizenship status.

Application & Testing Deadlines

Freshman Admission Timeline

If you’re a high school student, you should apply early in your senior year; admission will be much more competitive if you apply later.

To meet a deadline, your application must be complete, which means we have received all required material.

  • December 1*: First-Year Application Deadline for Merit Scholarship Consideration
    • All first-year applicants who submit a complete application by December 1 will be considered for USC Merit Scholarships.
    • * USC does not have an Early Decision or Early Action program.
    • First-year and transfer deadline for the following programs: All Dramatic Arts, Cinematic Arts and Music programs, Kaufman School of Dance, the Iovine and Young Academy, and the World Bachelor in Business (WBB) program.
  • January 15: Final first-year application deadline
  • February 13: FAFSA and CSS Profile applications due for financial aid.
  • February: Merit Scholarship Notifications
    • First-year applicants who submitted their application by December 1 will receive notification of their Merit Scholarship status by February 1. Applicants who are not selected to receive or interview for scholarships will still be considered for admission.
  • April 1: Final Admission Decisions
    • All first-year applicants who submitted a complete application by the January deadline will be mailed an admission decision by April 1. Only notification from the Office of Admission constitutes an offer of admission.

Transfer Admission Timeline

If you’re applying to a program that requires an artistic review, we recommend submitting your Application one month earlier to give you time to prepare your portfolio and or an audition by the deadline.

  • December 1: Transfer deadline for the following programs:
    • Some Cinematic Arts programs, BFA Dramatic Arts programs, all Music programs, Dance, and the Iovine and Young Academy.
  • February 1: Transfer deadline for all other programs.
    • Students who apply for admission by February 1 will also be considered for USC Merit Scholarships.
  • March 2: FAFSA and CSS Profile applications due for financial aid.
  • May 31: Scholarship Status and Final Admission Decisions
    • All transfer applicants who submit a complete application by the February deadline will receive a request for spring grades or an admission decision by the end of May.
