DUT Postdoctoral Fellowship in Environmental Microbiology 2024

We are pleased to announce that the application for the 2024 Postdoctoral Fellowship in Environmental Microbiology is now open.

The Durban University of Technology’s Institute for Water and Wastewater Technology is currently seeking highly qualified candidates for postdoctoral fellowships in the field of environmental microbiology. This exciting opportunity allows researchers to further their knowledge and skills in the detection, quantification, and characterization of bacteria, viruses, and protozoa in aquatic systems.

• A generous stipend of R300,000.00 per annum for South African citizens and R250,000.00 per annum for permanent residents and foreigners

DUT Postdoctoral Fellowship Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the fellowship, candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Possess a doctorate in Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Environmental Health
• Have documented knowledge in traditional and advanced molecular methods for analyzing bacteria, viruses, and/or protozoa in aquatic systems
• Experience with Microbial Risk Assessment and environmental epidemiology is an advantage
• Publications in DHET accredited journals

DUT Postdoctoral Fellowship Application Procedure

1. A cover letter stating the area of interest as listed above
2. A comprehensive curriculum vitae
3. All academic certificates and transcripts (in English)
4. A list of publications and other research outputs
5. A certified copy of an ID/passport document
6. Two reference letters
