The University of Ghana, UG International Baccalaureate (IB) Entry Requirements – 2023/2024 Admission for all the courses at the undergraduate level is updated every year. Therefore, this article contains the full list of all undergraduate  courses coupled with their general requirements.

For admission through International Baccalaureate (IB) into programmes of study at the University of Ghana, UG for any first degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for a successful admission.

UNIVERSITY OF GHANA INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES

IB students who wish to apply to the College of Health Sciences should meet the following subject specific requirements: Short-listed applicants into programmes at the College of Health Sciences must pass an entrance examination and/or interview.

School of Medicine & Dentistry

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery​
• Bachelor of Dental Surgery

Entry requirements:   Applicants must have at least Grade 5 in Chemistry and either Biology or Physics at the Higher Level. In addition, applicants must have at least grade 4 in English Language/Literature  (SL) and Mathematics SL and at least grade C for the third science at the IGCSE or equivalent.

School of Phar-macy

• Doctor of Phar-macy

  Entry requirements: Applicants must have at least Grade 5 in Chemistry, and either Biology or Physics at the Higher Level. In addition, applicants must have at least grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics SL and at least grade C for the third science at the IGCSE or equivalent.

School of Biological and Allied Health Sciences

• Bachelor of Science in Dietetics
• Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory
• Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy
• Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy
• Bachelor of Science in Radiography
• Bachelor of Science Respiratory Therapy

         Entry requirements: Applicants must have at least Grade 5 in Chemistry, and either Biology or Physics at the Higher Level. In addition, applicants must have at least grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics SL and at least grade C for the third science at the IGCSE or equivalent.

School of Nursing & Midwifery

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing

           Entry requirements: Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in Chemistry, and either Biology or Physics at the Higher Level. In addition, applicants must have at least grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics SL and at least grade C for the third science at the IGCSE or equivalent.

• Bachelor of Science in Midwifery

Entry requirements: Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in Chemistry, and either Biology or Physics at the Higher Level. In addition, applicants must have at least grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics SL and at least grade C for the third science at the IGCSE or equivalent.

• Bachelor of Science in Physical Sciences

Physical Sciences

Physics, Chemistry, Geophysics

Entry requirements:

              Three (3) HL subjects comprising:

              At least Grade 4 in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics

            In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), Mathematics (SL) and at least C in a Science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.

• Bachelor of Science in Mathematical Sciences

Mathematical Sciences

Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Biomathematics, Physics

Entry requirements:

              Three (3) HL subjects comprising:

              At least Grade 4 in Mathematics and any other two (2) subjects.

            In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), Mathematics (SL) and at least C in a Science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.

• Bachelor of Science in Earth Sciences

Earth Sciences

Geology, Applied Geology, Applied Geophysics

Entry requirements:

              Three (3) HL subjects comprising:

              At least Grade 4 in Chemistry and any two of Physics, Mathematics and Biology/Geography.

            In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and at least C in a Science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.

• Bachelor of Science in Information Technology

Entry requirements:

              At least Grade 4 in any three (3) HL subjects

            In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), Mathematics (SL) and at least C in a science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.   School of Biological Sciences

• Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences

Biological Sciences Animal Biology and Conservation Science, Biochemistry Cell and Molecular Biology, Nutrition, Food Science, Plant and Environmental Biology, Marine Science, Fisheries Science, Psychology, Microbiology.

Entry requirements:

              At least Grade 4 in three (3) HL subjects comprising:

            Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), Mathematics (SL) and at least C in Physics.at the IGCSE or equivalent.   School of Agriculture

• Bachelor of Science in Agriculture

Animal Science, Crop Science, Soil Science, Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness, Agriculture Extension, Post-Harvest Technology.

Entry requirements:

              At least Grade 4 in three (3) HL subjects comprising:

           Chemistry, and any two (2) of Physics, Biology, Geography and Mathematics. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), Mathematics (SL) and at least C in a Science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.

• Bachelor of Science in Family & Consumer Sciences

Family and Consumer Science (Food and Clothing Option)

Entry requirements:

              At least Grade 4 in three (3) HL subjects comprising:

           Chemistry and any two (2) subjects. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), Mathematics (SL) and at least C in a Science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.

• Family and Consumer Science (Family and Child Studies Option)

Entry requirements:

              At least Grade 4 in any three (3) HL subjects.

            In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), Mathematics (SL) and at least C in a Science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.   School of Engineering Sciences

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering Sciences

Material Science and Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Food Process Engineering, Agriculture Engineering.

Entry requirements:

              At least Grade 4 in three (3) HL subjects comprising:

            Mathematics and any two of Chemistry, Physics, Biology. In addition, applicants must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), and at least C in a science subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.   School of Veterinary Medicine

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Entry requirements:

1.  At least Grade 4 in three (3) HL subjects comprising: Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics.
2. In addition, applicants must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL), and at least C in Physics subject at the IGCSE or equivalent.

COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES

School of Social Sciences/ School of Arts/ School of Languages

 Bachelor of Arts

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any Three (3) HL subjects.
2.  Applicants must have the following subjects to qualify to read the under listed courses:

• Economics, Mathematics or Statistics        – Mathematics
• Computer Science                                      – Mathematics
• French                                                        – French
• English                                                       – English Literature
• Geography                                                 – Geography

In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

                       

University of Ghana Business School

• Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

1.  Applicants must have at least Grade 5 in any Three (3) HL subjects
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

University of Ghana School of Law

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB)

1.  Applicants must have at least Grade 6 in any Three (3) HL subjects.
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

School of Performing Arts

 Bachelor of Fine Arts

1.  Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any Three (3) HL subjects
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

They will be expected to attend an audition or interview.

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

School of Education & Leadership

Bachelor of Arts in Education (English)

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any three HL subjects including English Literature.
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

• Bachelor of Arts in Education (Non-Teaching)

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any three (3) HL subjects.
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

• Bachelor of Arts in Sport and Physical Culture Studies

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any three (3) HL subjects.
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

• Bachelor of Science in Education (Mathematics)

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any three (3) HL subjects including Mathematics.
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

• Bachelor of Science in Education (Chemistry)

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any three (3) HL subjects including Chemistry.
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

• Bachelor of Science in Education (Biology)

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any three (3) HL subjects including Biology.
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/ Literature (SL) Mathematics (SL).

• Bachelor of Science in Education (Physics)

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any three (3) HL subjects including Physics.
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/ Literature (SL) Mathematics (SL).

School of Continuing & Distance Education

Bachelor of Arts

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any Three (3) HL subjects
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

Bachelor of Science in Business Administration

1. Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any Three (3) HL subjects
2. In addition, they must have at least Grade 4 in English Language/Literature (SL) and Mathematics (SL).

Bachelor of Science in Information Technology

1.  Applicants must have at least Grade 4 in any Three (3) HL subjects.
