The Osun State University, UNIOSUN Admission Requirements: 2024/2025 for all the courses at the undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate level is updated every year. Therefore, this article contains the full list of all the undergraduate and Postgraduate courses coupled with their general requirements. For admission into programmes of study at the Osun State University, UNIOSUN for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for successful admission.

OSUN STATE UNIVERSITY, UNIOSUN UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

General Admission Requirements
Gaining admission into an Undergraduate Programme in UNIOSUN is basically under 2 entry method which includes the UTME entry and the Direct Entry.
UNIOSUN admission requirements through UTME 
To gain admission into the Osun State University in 2024/2025, UTME candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Candidates must have reached the age of 16.
  • Candidates must have at least 6 (six) “Cs (Credits)” grades in their O’level result (s). This must include English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects related to their course of study. For instance, a Candidate that wants to study law must have a “C” in English Language, Mathematics, Government/History, Economics and Literature in English.
  • Candidates must score at least 120 in JAMB UTME examination
  • Candidates must take UNIOSUN post UTME screening examination and must perform very well in the examination (Depending on the course of study)
  • Not more than ONE sitting results is accepted for admission into the Osun State University (UNIOSUN)
  • Candidates must choose the correct subject combination for their courses.
  • Finally, candidates must meet the stipulated cutoff marks for their courses to gain admission into the university.
UNIOSUN admission requirements through Direct Entry 
Candidates who wish to gain admission through direct entry into the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) must meet the following requirements:
  • Candidates must possess at least five (5) Credits in their O’level result. This must include English Language and Mathematics. However, two sitting result is not allowed.
  • Candidates must have also reached the age of 16.
  • Candidates are expected to get JAMB Directly entry form from JAMB to apply.
  • Candidates should have any of the following certificates: OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, ICAN

UNIOSUN COURSE-SPECIFIC ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

College of Agriculture Admission Requirements
  • U.M.E. Candidates For admission into the first degree programme in Agriculture, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry to form the core subjects, with credit in any of the following: Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • Direct Entry Candidates In addition to the specified qualification for UME Entry Mode (100Level), candidates seeking admission through the Direct Entry Mode (200- Level) must posses one of the following qualifications:
    • General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L) or its equivalent passes in Chemistry and in at least one science or social/ management science subject from the following: Biology, Botany, Zoology, Mathematics (Pure and Applied), Agricultural Science, Physics, Geology, Economics and Geography.
    • National Diploma (OND or ND) obtained in relevant fields of Agriculture, Fisheries, Forestry, Wildlife, Cooperative and Agribusiness Management, or Veterinary Science with a minimum of upper credit.
    • National Certificate of Education (NCE) passed with a minimum of Credit grade (60- 69%) obtained from a College of Education recognised by the University and with relevant subject combinations from among: Agricultural science, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Home Economics.
  • 300- Level: Higher National Diploma (HND) obtained with a minimum of Upper Credit in relevant fields as listed for OND/ND holders and from NBTE accredited institutions recognised by the University.
  • Inter and Intra Transfer A candidate is accepted on transfer into the College only at 200 level if he/she has satisfied the UME entry requirement into the College and has not been withdrawn from the University. However, candidates running the Bachelor of Agriculture, Bachelor of Fisheries and Aquaculture, and Bachelor of Wildlife and Environmental Resources Management programmes could be allowed to transfer from one option to another within the programme at any point up to 400 level.
College of Education
U.M.E. Candidates
  • B. Ed. Economics: For admission into the first degree programme in Education Economics, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Economics to form the core subjects, with credit in two other relevant arts or social science subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • B. Ed. English: For admission into the first degree programme in Education English, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English to form the core subjects, with credit in two other relevant arts or social science subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • B. Ed. Political Science: For admission into the first degree programme in Education Political Science, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language and Mathematics to form the core subjects, with credit in three other relevant arts or social science subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • B. Ed. Biology: For admission into the first degree programme in Education Biology, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Biology to form the core subjects, with credit in two other relevant science subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • B. Ed. Chemistry: For admission into the first degree programme in Education Chemistry, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Chemistry to form the core subjects, with credit in two other relevant science subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • B. Ed. Mathematics: For admission into the first degree programme in Education Mathematics, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language and Mathematics to form the core subjects, with credit in three other relevant science subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • B. Ed. Physics: For admission into the first degree programme in Education Physics, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics and Physics to form the core subjects, with credit in two other relevant science subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Direct Entry Candidates
  • B. Ed. Economics: Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Education Economics programme, must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) social science subjects one of which must be Economics, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed in 3.2.1 above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with NCE and approved equivalents in relevant subjects with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
  • B. Ed. English: Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Education English programme, must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) arts subjects one of which must be English, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed in 3.2.1 above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with NCE and approved equivalents in relevant subjects with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
  • B. Ed. Political Science: Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Education Political Science programme, must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) social science/arts subjects one of which must be History/Government, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed in 3.2.1 above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with NCE and approved equivalents in relevant subjects with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
  • B. Ed. Biology: Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Education Biology programme must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) science subjects one of which must be Biology, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with NCE and approved equivalents with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
  • B. Ed. Chemistry: Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Education Chemistry programme must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) science subjects one of which must be Chemistry, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with NCE and approved equivalents with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
  • B. Ed. Mathemaics: Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Education Mathematics programme must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) science subjects one of which must be Mathematics, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with NCE and approved equivalents with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
  • B. Ed. Physics: Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Education Physics programme must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) science subjects one of which must be Physics, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with NCE and approved equivalents with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.

College of Health Sciences
Faculty of Basic Medical Science
  • UTME Candidates: Candidates seeking admission into B.Sc Anatomy, B.Sc Biochemistry, B. Sc Physiology programme through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mode must possess credit passes at Senior Secondary School Examination (SSCE) conducted by West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO), General Certificate Examination (GCE) at Ordinary Level or its equivalent in Mathematics, English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings and an acceptable pass mark at the UTME conducted by Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Such candidate must also satisfy the post UTME requirement of Osun State University.
  • Direct Entry Candidates
    •  ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Zoology or related discipline may be accepted for direct entry admission into year two of B. Sc Physiology programme.
    • Candidates with Ordinary National Diploma in related Biological Sciences may also be considered for admission through direct entry mode of admission.
College of Humanities and Culture
U.M.E. Candidates
  • For admission into the first degree programme in History and International Studies, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, History or Government to form the core subjects, with credit in any other three arts/social sciences subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Direct Entry Candidates
  • Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level History and International Studies programme, must have Advanced Level passes in History or Government, in addition to credit level passes in five subjects at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with ND and approved equivalents in relevant fields with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidate with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
College of Law
UTME:
  • A candidate for admission into the College of Law, Osun State University, must possess at least Senior Secondary School Certificate (S.S.S.C.) with credit level passes in at least five (5) subjects including English Language and Literature in English obtained at not more than one sitting. Such a candidate must have an acceptable pass in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (“UTME”).
Direct Entry Mode A candidate for Direct Entry into the degree programme of the College of Law, Osun State University must have;
  1. A two-year or three-year Diploma Certificate (Upper Credit) of Osun State University or any other recognised institution, plus credit level passes in at least five (5) papers, including English Language and Literature in English, in the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (S.S.C.E.) or G.C.E. “O” Level examination or their equivalent; or
  2. Three (3) papers at principal level in Higher School Certificate Examination (H.S.C.E) or General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) Advanced Level, together with credit passes in not less than three other subjects including English Language and Literature in English in the S.S.S.C.E. or G.C.E. “O” Level examination or their equivalent; or
  3. Two (2) papers at Principal Level in H.S.C. or G.C.E. Advanced Level plus credit passes in four (4) other papers (including English Language and Literature in English) in the S.S.S.C.E. or ‘G.CE. “O” Level examination or their equivalent; or
  4. A degree, in a relevant discipline, of Osun State University or any other recognised University of not less than a Second Class Lower Division.
  5. Candidates that have successfully gone through the approved and relevant University Sub-Degree programme may be qualified for admission, provided they possess other admission requirements as stated above.
College of Management and Social Sciences
U.T.M.E. Candidates
  • For admission into the first degree programme in Accounting, Banking and Finance, a candidate must have the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English and Mathematics to form the core subjects, with credit in any of the following: Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Book-Keeping at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • For admission into the first degree programme in Business Administration, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics to form the core subjects, with credit in any of the following: Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Book-keeping at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  • For admission into the 100 level degree programme in
  • Economics, Human Resource Development and and Political Science and International Relations programme, a candidate must have the Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalents with credit level passes in five (5) subjects: English Language, Mathematics, Economics to form the core subjects, with credit in other social science subjects at not more than two sittings. The candidate must also earn an acceptable score in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Direct Entry Candidates
  • Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into 200 level Accounting, Banking and Finance programme, must have Advanced Level passes in at least two of the following: Economics, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Book-Keeping, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with ND and approved equivalents in relevant fields with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme.
  • Also candidates with ICAN ATS (Final Level) and Foundation pass of recognized professional bodies; ICAN, ACCA (London), CIMA (UK), CIBN, CITN and others who are members of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) may be considered for direct entry. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission for entry into 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
  • Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Business Administration programme, must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) of the following: Economic, Geography, Commerce, Government, Accounts and Book-keeping, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed in 3.2.1 above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with ND and approved equivalents in relevant fields with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidate with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
  • Candidates seeking admission by direct entry into the 200 level Economics, Human Resource Development and and Political Science and International Relations programme, must have Advanced Level passes in at least two (2) subjects which must include Mathematics and Economics, in addition to credit level passes in five of the subjects listed in 3.2.1 above at the SSCE or its equivalents. Candidates with ND and approved equivalents in relevant fields with at least a lower credit may be considered for direct entry into the programme. Candidates with acceptable pass in the UNIOSUN Foundation Programme are also eligible for admission into the 200 level, provided they possess the requisite qualification for entry into the 100 level of the programme.
