The Muteesa I Royal University, MRU 2024/2025 admission requirement contains the full list of all the undergraduate courses and Postgraduate courses coupled with their general requirements.
For admission into programmes of study at the Muteesa I Royal University, MRU, an applicant must have the following requirements for a successful admission.
MUTEESA I ROYAL UNIVERSITY, MRU UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
The following are the requirements for admission to Degree Programmes:
For eligibility to enter into the Undergraduate Degree programmes, the candidate MUST possess the following qualifications:
- O-level certificate with 5 passes in approved subjects, including a pass in English language or equivalent.
- A-level certificate with two principal passes or equivalent or
- A pass on the mature entrance exam, or
- A diploma in a relevant programme from a recognized institution of higher learning.
The following are the requirements for entry into the Diploma Programmes:
- O-level certificate with 5 passes in approved subjects including a pass in English language or equivalent.
- A-level certificate with at least one principal pass and two subsidiaries at A-level in relevant subjects or equivalent or.
- A certificate in a relevant subject from a recognized educational institution.
- For a diploma in secondary education, one should have two principal passes in two relevant subjects.
- For a diploma in Primary education, one must have a Grade III Teacher’s certificate from a recognized institution.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS TO ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES
Category I: Direct Entry (Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or it’s equivalent)
Diploma in Engineering
- One (1) principal pass in either Physics or Mathematics and one (1) subsidiary in Mathematics or physics.
- Subsidiary in Physics and Mathematics and Principle pass in Technical Drawing.
- Certificate Level in a related field
Category II: Diploma Entry (Diploma holders or it’s equivalent)
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Advanced Certificate in Motor vehicle part II
- Certificate in Motor vehicle part I
OR
- Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Craft part II
- Certificate in Mechanical Engineering craft/ electrical Installation and Regulation awarded by MRU.
Diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Advanced certificate in Electrical Installation and Regulation part III
- Certificate in Electrical Installation and Regulation part II
Diploma in Civil Engineering
Any applicant must have passed the following:
- Advanced certificate in plumbing part II
- Certificate in plumbing Part I
OR
- Advanced Certificate in Bricklaying and concrete practice part II
- Certificate in Bricklaying and concrete practice Part I
Bachelor in Civil Engineering
Category I: Direct Entry
- Two principles in Physical and Mathematics.
- Two principles in Physics and Chemistry with a subsidiary in Mathematics.
- Ordinary/National diploma in Civil and Building Construction with pass.
Category II: Diploma Entry
Entry to second year, Bachelor in Civil Engineering
- Ordinary/National diploma in Civil and Building construction with at least credit.
- Ordinary/National diploma in Civil and Building Construction with pass.
Entry to third year, Bachelor in Civil Engineering
- Higher diploma in Civil and Building construction with at least credit.
- Diploma in Civil and Building construction.
Bachelor in Electrical Engineering
Category I: Direct Entry
- Two principles in Physical and Mathematics.
- Ordinary/National diploma in Electrical Engineering with pass.
Category II: Diploma Entry
Entry to second year, Bachelor in Electrical Engineering
- Ordinary/National diploma in Electrical Engineering/Electronics with at least credit /second class from recognized Institution/University.
Entry to third year, Bachelor in Electrical Engineering
- Higher diploma in Electrical Engineering with at least a credit/second class from recognized Institution/University.
- Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
MUTEESA I ROYAL UNIVERSITY, MRU POSTGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Entry requirements for a Postgraduate degree Programme
A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited University in a subject or subjects relevant to the course applied for.
Duration of Programme: 1 Academic Year
Entry requirements for a Masters Degree Programme
i) A first degree with at least a second class (where such classes are indicated) or its equivalent from a recognized University or higher institution of learning.
Or
ii) Graduates with a pass degree and a postgraduate diploma in a relevant field may also be considered.
Or
iii) Individuals who have considerable years of experience in intended areas of study but who lack first-degree qualification.
Entry requirements for a Doctorate degree Programme
Masters degree (s) it’s equivalent from a recognized University or higher institution of learning.
