We are pleased to announce that the Ministry of Education and Sports has opened the application for the United Kingdom Commonwealth Scholarship scheme for the 2024–2025 Academic Year.
The esteemed Ministry of Education and Sports welcomes applications for the United Kingdom Commonwealth Scholarship Scheme for the academic year 2024/2025. Aspiring Ugandan scholars have the incredible opportunity to advance their studies in the United Kingdom, choosing from various fields at both the master’s and PhD levels.
United Kingdom Commonwealth Scholarship Eligibility
Fields of Study
PhD Level:
- Health Sciences
- Education
- Agricultural Sciences
- Engineering Sciences
- Law
Master’s Level:
- Health Sciences (Specializations: Oncology, Cardiology, Nephrology, Oncological Nutrition, Cardiological Nursing, and Physiotherapy)
- Engineering
- Natural Sciences
- Computer Sciences
- School Education
- Sports Science
Specific Criteria
- Applicants with foreign qualifications should have their academic documents verified by the National Council for Higher Education.
- Those applying for master’s programmes should possess a minimum of two years of work experience in their relevant fields.
- PhD applicants should already have an admission offer from a university in the UK and a designated supervisor in their chosen field at one of the UK institutions.
- Candidates should possess a first degree with at least an Upper Second Class Honors in the relevant field.
United Kingdom Commonwealth Scholarship Application Procedure
- Obtain the application form. The form is available for download on the Ministry’s website: UK Commonwealth Scholarship Application Form
- Fill out the form, which requires personal information, scholarship details, work experience, and educational background.
- Ensure you attach a recent passport-sized photograph to the designated area of the form.
- After filling out the form, print and scan it together with your academic, professional documents, National ID, and either the Bio Data page of the passport or evidence of a passport application.
- All the scanned documents should be combined into a single PDF.
- Send the PDF to the official email address: scholarships@education.go.ug.
- Applications, which should also contain photocopies of academic documents, professional certificates, and the bio-data page of the Biometric Passport, should be addressed to:The Secretary,

Ministry of Education and Sports.Applications can be physically delivered to: The Department of Admissions, Scholarships, and Student Affairs, Legacy Towers, Kyadondo Road Plot S, Kampala.
Application Dates
All applications are to be submitted by Friday, 8th September 2023. Those who made it to the shortlist will find their names displayed on the Ministry of Education and Sports website and on Notice Boards at Embassy House and Legacy Towers by Friday, September 22, 2023.
