Efundi Login NWU 2026 : How to Access
This article contains information on the eFundi Login NWU: Your Ultimate Guide to Accessing Course Materials and Academic Resources for 2026.
Are you a student or faculty member at the North-West University (NWU)? If so, you’ve probably heard of eFundi – the university’s online learning management system. eFundi is a powerful tool that allows students and instructors to access course materials, communicate with each other, and participate in online discussions. In this article, we’ll provide a comprehensive guide to eFundi login at NWU, with helpful tips and strategies for getting the most out of this valuable platform.
Please note that eFundi uses the Central Authentication Service (CAS), meaning your eFundi password is the same one used for your university email and MS Office 365. This CAS-based account is separate from your Student Engagement Portal (MySIS) account used for registration — they require different passwords. Do not use your MySIS registration password on the eFundi login screen.
HOW TO ACCESS THE NWU EFUNDI LOGIN PORTAL
- Access the eFundi eLearning platform of the North-West University by typing the following web address in the address field of your web browser: https://efundi.nwu.ac.za/. Always verify that the URL in your browser matches this official address to avoid phishing attempts. For the best experience, use Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge. Google Chrome is also supported. Ensure your browser is updated to its latest version.
- To login to eFundi, click on the Login button. Your username must be formatted as your university number followed by @mysis-nwu.ac.za. For example: 12345678@mysis-nwu.ac.za. Do not use the @mynwu.ac.za format for the eFundi login — that format is for Microsoft Outlook only.
- First-time eFundi users: Your default password is your South African identity number followed by @Nwu. For example: 1234567890123@Nwu. For international students (including students from Namibia), the default password is your passport number followed by @Nwu. This default password is temporary and must be changed immediately upon first login. The default password expires within two weeks of creation — do not delay changing it.
- Your new password must be at least eight characters long and must contain at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, one digit, and one special character. Spaces and underscores are not permitted. You cannot reuse any of your last three previously used passwords.
- After 90 days your password will expire. You will need to change your password before this time or you will need to request a new password.

HOW TO ACCESS A SITE/MODULE ON THE NWU EFUNDI PORTAL
- After login, you will land on the eFundi Gateway — your main dashboard. Course modules you are enrolled in are displayed as tiles or cards. Click on the relevant course tile to enter the module.
- Click on the tab of your site or module on the navigation bar. Module codes/names differ from programme to programme of study.
- If the site/module is not displayed in the tab, please click on the Sites dropdown menu to view the sites/modules not displayed.
- Please note that each module has a tool menu. Each item on the menu is referred to as a tool. Key tabs to check regularly include Announcements (for course updates from your lecturer) and Content (for all academic materials).
- If you cannot access a module you believe you are registered for, first check whether you have outstanding fees — full access to eFundi is contingent on meeting all financial requirements. If finances are not the issue, contact the SIS Call Centre for clarification.
- Note: After a lecturer uploads marks on eFundi, there is a processing delay of approximately 24 hours before those marks appear on the Student Portal.
HOW TO VIEW/DOWNLOAD RESOURCES ON THE NWU EFUNDI PORTAL
When you click on the Content or Resources tool in the module menu it will open up a list of files, saved in folders organized by topic or week of the semester.
- Click on the relevant file.
- You will be asked to either save or open the file. The file will open in the default format (e.g. MS Word/PDF). Depending on the browser settings, both Firefox and Chrome automatically download the file.
- Most materials will be in PDF format — ensure you have a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your device.
- If you experience display errors or broken links, clear your browser’s cache and cookies to force a fresh reload of the page. This resolves conflicts caused by outdated locally stored files.
HOW TO VIEW/SUBMIT AN ASSIGNMENT ON THE NWU EFUNDI PORTAL
Depending on how your lecturer has set up the site, you can access the assignment either by clicking on the Assignments tool or clicking on the link to the assignment within the module content. Pay attention to the due date and the submission instructions. Two submission tools are available:
- The Drop Box tool creates a private individual folder for each student. Files uploaded here are only visible to you and your lecturer.
- The Assignments tool is used for formal coursework. When submitting, you will need to provide a descriptive title for your submission as it appears in the lecturer’s grading system.
- To view the assignment, click on the title of an assignment in the assignment list.
- To submit your assignment, browse for your assignment file on your computer.
- The attached assignment will appear under the heading Submission.
- If you want to remove the attachment, click on Remove. To submit a new copy, click on Browse again to upload another file.
- Click Submit. If you are ready to submit, you should see a confirmation message.
