UKZN Permit Application 2026/2027

The University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) provides an official online forms portal that serves as the gateway for various university forms, including the study permit application required for international students. The previous campus entry clearance system, which was introduced as a temporary COVID-19 pandemic measure, is no longer the primary function of this portal.

The UKZN Student Portal is the main hub for all university forms and services. Prospective and current students can access the relevant forms, including study permit applications, through the student portal.

UKZN STUDY PERMIT APPLICATION FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
International students who have been accepted at UKZN are required to apply for a South African study permit before registration. The following steps outline the process:
- Open your internet browser (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
- Visit the UKZN Student Portal at https://ukzn.ac.za/student-portal/.
- Navigate to the relevant forms section and locate the study permit application.
- Complete all required fields and upload the necessary supporting documents.
- Submit your application before the stipulated deadline.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR STUDY PERMIT APPLICATION
- Valid passport (with at least 30 days validity beyond the intended study period)
- Proof of acceptance/admission letter from UKZN
- Proof of financial means to cover tuition and living expenses
- Medical certificate (if required)
- Proof of payment of the study permit application fee
- SAQA evaluation of foreign qualifications (where applicable)
