UKZN Registration Dates and Deadline for 2024

University of KwaZulu-Natal, UKZN Academic Calendar 2023 Academic Sessions

The management of the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) has opened the student registration portal for fresh and continuing students to register their courses for the semester both at the diploma, undergraduate and the postgraduate level. Specific dates and deadlines have been set for the registration as well as the closure of the registration portal. It is advisable to register early inorder not to lose your studentship at UKZN as late registration would not be permitted.

The registration deadline or closing date is always an registration submission timeline that is set by the institution for registering courses and modules for the semester. South African schools (universities and colleges) usually have their submission deadline within 2 weeks to 1 month after the student registration portal is opened.

Therefore, it is expected for all UKZN students (both new and old) to meet the the stated registration timeline as stated below to be on the safe side.

UNIVERSITY OF KWAZULU-NATAL (UKZN) REGISTRATION TIMELINES AND DEADLINE

Applicants are required to take note of the registration dates below:

  • Online registration: Monday 10 January – Friday 25 February 2022
  • First semester and Lectures commence: Monday, 14 February 2022
  • Final date for minimum fee payment required for registration: Friday 25 February 2022
  • Final date for semester 1 registration: Friday 25 February 2022
  • Final date for curriculum changes: Friday 25 February 2022

NOTE: Postgraduate students must consult their respective departments in terms of the start of their academic activities in 2022.

FINANCIAL CLEARANCE CONCESSIONS & FUNDING 2022

The following categories of students will not be required to pay 2022 registration fees:

  • Students whose full cost of study is funded for the 2024 academic year.
  • Students who are funded by NSFAS for the 2024 academic year.
  • Students who are funded for tuition only will not be required to pay tuition registration fees.

The following concessions are available to enable students with outstanding debt from previous years to obtain financial clearance in 2022 without fully settling their debt. Local students from families whose annual income is below R350 000 will be provided with financial clearance upon:

  1. Providing proof of annual family income.
  2. Payment of the required registration fees as set out in 1 or 2 above.
  3. Payment of at least 15% of their outstanding debt limited to a maximum amount of R10,000 if registering for tuition only or R15,000 if registering for tuition and residence.
  4. Payment of all amounts committed to in the most recent repayment plan.
  5. Completion of the UKZN acknowledgement of debt (AoD), and a repayment plan that reduces the remaining historic debt by at least 50% by 30 November 2021.
