Authority of the institution has released the amount payable as application and registration fees for undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate, professional & diploma programs for the new academic session.

This is to inform all the prospective candidates offered provisional admission or probably seeking admission into the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) for 2024/2025 academic session that the management of the institution has released the amount they are required to pay as fees for application form and registration (when given admission). We specifically publish this information here today, for all people who need to know the current Application as well as the registration fees of UKZN. Please note that if you have applied for admission to the University of KwaZulu-Natal or if you are already a student, it is advised that you know the current registration fees for all students, and this knowledge will help you, avoiding making mistakes that will cost you your admission.

The relevant application fee should accompany all applications:

  • On-time applications                        R200
  • Late applications                             R400

International

UKZN Registration Fees

Local Students

Please note that that the initial registration fee is R4000 and the initial residence deposit is R3000.

There are four easy ways to pay your fees and register:

  • ONLINE: using a debit or credit card via the Click-to-Pay links on www.ukzn.ac.za
  • DIRECT DEPOSIT: at any Standard Bank branch.
  • EFT: Electronic Funds Transfers can be made at any bank but allow up to 2 days for clearance.
  • REGISTER ONLINE FROM 18 JANUARY 2021: visit Student Central after you’ve paid.

  • Students with Outstanding Debt from Previous Year(s)
    • Refer to Student Central for information on any available financial clearance concessions;
    • View an Acknowledgement of Debt (AOD) form.
    • Complete and submit AOD form with all the required supporting documents to apply for financial clearance using applicable concessions.
  • Financial Clearance for Funded Students
    • All funded students must liaise with Financial Aid Advisors in their respective Colleges to obtain financial clearance.

International Students

Within the SADC Region

  • Pay full local fees upfront prior to being granted financial clearance. To determine the total tuition fees payable, student should request a proforma invoice from their respective College offices.
  • Pay the required international student levies. For 2021, student levy is R 1900 is registering for one semester only and R 3800 if registering for whole year.
  • All outstanding fees must be cleared prior to seeking for financial clearance for the 2021 academic year, unless stated otherwise.

Outside the SADC Region Within Africa (Undergraduates)

  • Are required to pay their full international fees upfront prior to being granted financial clearance, fees payable are available from the fee booklet accessible from the UKZN web page – student portal

Outside the SADC Region Within Africa (Postgraduates)

  • Are required to pay full local fees for both tuition and residence, if applicable, upfront prior to being granted financial clearance.
  • To determine the total tuition fees payable, student should request a proforma invoice from their respective College offices.
  • Pay the required international student levies. For 2021, student levy is R 1900 is registering for one semester only and R 3800 if registering for whole year.
  • For residence fees, students should contact the Department of Student Residence and Accommodation (DSRA) for a quotation.

Students from Abroad

  • Are required to pay their full international fees upfront prior to being granted financial clearance. Fees payable are available from the fees booklet accessible from the UKZN web page – stud.ent portal. These fees are to cover tuition fees only.
  • For residence fees, students should contact the Department of Student Residence and Accommodation (DSRA) for a quotation.
