This is information containing the Stellenbosch University (SU) Application & Registration Fees: 2024/2025. Authority of the institution has released the amount payable as application and registration fees for undergraduate, postgraduate, certificate, professional & diploma programs for the new academic session.

Universiteit Stellenbosch, SUN Application Status – 2021 Admission

This is to inform all the prospective candidates offered provisional admission or probably seeking admission into the Stellenbosch University (SU) for 2024/2025 academic session that the management of the institution has released the amount they are required to pay as fees for application form and registration (when given admission). We specifically publish this information here today, for all people who need to know the current Application as well as the registration fees of SU. Please note that if you have applied for admission to the Stellenbosch University or if you are already a student, it is advised that you know the current registration fees for all students, and this knowledge will help you, avoiding making mistakes that will cost you your admission.

SU APPLICATION AND REGISTRATION FEES FOR UNDERGRADUATE AND POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

SU Application fees

The relevant application fee should accompany all applications:

An amount of R100 is payable when applying for admission as a student.

This amount is not applicable to the following groups of students:

  •  International students – click here to be redirected to the Stellenbosch University International (SUI) website.
  • Students applying to the Stellenbosch University Business School (USB). Send inquiry to usbcom@usb.ac.za.
  • Please note that applicants from schools with a quantile 1 to 3, as well as international students, do not need to pay the application fee. Quantile 1 to 3 schools are schools which are identified by the Department of Basic Education as schools situated in disadvantaged environments. If you are unsure about the status of your school, please ask the school. The online application system will automatically exempt you from the application fee when you apply.
  • Cash payments may also be made in person at the cashiers at the Administration building A (Stellenbosch Campus).

Note: This fee is non-refundable even if you decide not to study through the Stellenbosch University, do not qualify for admission to the Stellenbosch University or cannot be offered a space due to limited spaces available.

The due date for the application fee is the closing date for the application period. Any application submitted without an application fee paid on time will not be processed. Please ensure that you keep a copy of your proof of payment.

SU Registration Fees

The following amounts are payable before the date of registration:

No separate student account reflecting the above amounts will be distributed during registration. The amounts automatically become due and payable once the student registers either online or physically at the university.

The first student account will only be available after the student registers and will be sent within a week of registration closing.

CASHLESS PAYMENTS

Stellenbosch University (SU) is migrating to a cashless environment for payments on its campuses, so that students and parents no longer have to carry cash on them for certain payments. Kindly utilise the following payment solutions for payments of all student fees and services:

ONLINE PAYMENTS (EFT OR CREDIT CARDS) ON THE SU’s website

Online payments are possible on the website of the section for Student Fees at:

  1. maties.com
  2. Click on “Fees”
  3. Select “Student Fees online payments”
  4. Follow the instructions and pay by credit card or EFT (electronic transfer)
SNAPSCAN

SnapScan is a mobile application that enables cashless payments. The in-app payment mechanisms will be available for students to do bill payments for their student fees accounts, as well as for pre-paid services which includes meals, printer and laundry services.

Benefit of online/app payments: The receipt is processed immediately, resulting in no delay during the registration period regarding payment of compulsory first instalment(s), and no delay in the availability of examination results at a later stage.

NO OUTSTANDING FEES AT REGISTRATION

Kindly note that all outstanding amounts must be settled before a student will be allowed to register  for 2021. Please note that the University may not enter into any payment arrangements with regard to outstanding debt.

MODES OF PAYMENT OF STUDENT ACCOUNTS

Student accounts can be settled within the following two modes of payment:

Option1: Payment in three instalments

AT REGISTRATION Compulsory first instalment of Study and Accommodation Fees
31 MAY At least 75% of the remainder of the total student fees account, after the amount paid by date of registration has been deducted.
30 SEPTEMBER The outstanding balance of student account.

 Option 2: Debit order that consists of the following instalments:

AT REGISTRATION Compulsory first instalment of Study and Accommodation Fees
1 APRIL UP TO AND UNTIL 1 NOVEMBER A further eight instalments of the debit order are payable on the first day of the month.

 Applications for the debit order option close on 15 March. The necessary forms can be obtained from the website at http://www.maties.com/tuis.html available under “Fees”, “Payment Options” or at seand@sun.ac.za. Applications after 15 March will be considered subject to pre-payment of the minimum debit order payments due by 1 April.

If study fees of South African students are paid in full on or before 31 March, a request for a 3% rebate on the tuition fees (subject to conditions as stipulated in the University Yearbook) can be submitted at Student Fees. The prescribed form can be obtained from the web at http://www.maties.com/tuis.html available under “Fees”, “Payment Options” or  studentaccounts@sun.ac.za
