DCS CAREER (VACANT) POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS & ELIGIBILITY
Below is a summary of each available post, their minimum requirements, and salary packages (as per DCS October 2025 Circular).
1. Deputy Regional Commissioner
(Free State/Northern Cape — Ref: HO 2025/10/01; Western Cape — Ref: HO 2025/10/02)
Salary: R1 521 414 p.a. (All-inclusive package)
Requirements:
- Undergraduate qualification (NQF Level 7) in Public Administration / Behavioural Sciences or equivalent.
- Pre-entry certificate for the Senior Management Service (SMS) from the National School of Government (NSG).
- Minimum 5 years’ senior managerial experience.
- Computer literacy and valid driver’s licence.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Criminal Justice System, Correctional Services Act (111 of 1998), PFMA, and public service policies.
Core Competencies:
Strategic capability, leadership, financial management, service delivery innovation, stakeholder management, conflict resolution, transformation leadership, and policy development.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead regional operations, coordinate offender representation, oversee IT and communications, manage inspection and risk functions, and provide strategic direction for regional correctional services.
2. Deputy Director: Security Evaluation (NCB4)
(National Head Office — Directorate: Security Standards & Management; Ref: HO 2025/10/03)
Salary: R925 380 p.a. (All-inclusive package)
Requirements:
- Degree/National Diploma in Behavioural Sciences + successful completion of Corrections Science Learnership / Basic Training.
- Minimum 7 years’ supervisory/junior management experience.
- Computer literacy and valid driver’s licence.
- Top secret security classification (advantage).
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain security standards, policies, and evaluation tools. Conduct investigations into security breaches and manage performance, assets, and financial information related to security functions.
3. Deputy Director: Case Management (NCB4)
(National Head Office — Directorate: Corrections Administration; Ref: HO 2025/10/04)
Salary: R925 380 p.a. (All-inclusive package)
Requirements:
- Degree/National Diploma in Behavioural Sciences + successful completion of Corrections Science Learnership / Basic Training.
- At least 7 years’ relevant supervisory/management experience.
- Computer literate and valid driver’s licence.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement systems for offender case administration, ensure policy alignment with the Offender Rehabilitation Path, manage national case management data, and liaise with Parliament, NGOs, and media.
4. Deputy Director: Correctional Centres (NCB4)
(National Head Office — Directorate: Corrections Administration; Ref: HO 2025/10/05)
Salary: R925 380 p.a. (All-inclusive package)
Requirements:
Similar to Case Management post above.
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and monitor policies on admission, detention, and release. Manage overcrowding, ensure compliance with the Correctional Services Act, and prepare reports for various oversight bodies.
5. Assistant Director: Monitoring Services (NCB3)
(National Head Office — Directorate: Parole and Probation; Ref: HO 2025/10/09)
Salary: R506 667 p.a.
Requirements:
- 3-year Degree/National Diploma in Behavioural Sciences.
- Minimum 5 years’ supervisory experience (NCB2).
- Completion of Corrections Science Learnership / Basic Training.
- Valid driver’s licence.
Responsibilities:
Conduct national and international research on parole and probation monitoring services, develop policies and training materials, and manage audits, reports, and stakeholder relations.
6. Deputy Director: Academic Support
(National Head Office — Directorate: Core Curriculum; Ref: HO 2025/10/06)
Salary: R896 436 p.a. (All-inclusive package)
Requirements:
- Degree/National Diploma in Human Resource Development or ETD.
- 3–5 years’ experience in HRD or ETD management at ASD level.
- Computer literacy and valid driver’s licence.
Responsibilities:
Align training programmes with national standards, manage learning material development, coordinate induction programmes, oversee provider accreditation, and ensure compliance with PFMA and SCM regulations.
7. Deputy Director: Performance Monitoring & Reporting
(National Head Office — Directorate: Strategic Planning Management; Ref: HO 2025/10/07)
Salary: R896 436 p.a. (All-inclusive package)
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Public or Business Administration.
- 3–5 years’ management experience in monitoring & reporting / strategic management.
- Advanced MS Office skills and valid driver’s licence.
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage DCS performance monitoring systems, ensure compliance with DPME and Treasury frameworks, compile quarterly and annual performance reports, and coordinate audit responses.
8. Assistant Manager Nursing: Maternal, Child & Youth Health
(National Head Office — Directorate: HIV & AIDS; Ref: HO 2025/10/08)
Salary: R755 355 p.a.
Requirements:
- Basic R425 qualification (degree/diploma in Nursing).
- Post-basic qualification (≥1 year) registered with SANC.
- Minimum 8 years’ nursing experience, with 3 years in maternal/child/youth health or mental health.
- Valid driver’s licence and computer literacy.
Responsibilities:
Design and manage national health programmes for special categories (women, youth, disabled inmates, mental health). Develop guidelines, evaluate performance indicators, and ensure compliance with PFMA.
9. Senior Administration Officer: Administration
(National Head Office — Directorate: Functional Management & Training; Ref: HO 2025/10/10)
Salary: R397 116 p.a.
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Human Resource Management.
- 3–5 years’ HRD experience.
- Computer literacy and valid driver’s licence.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate HRD admin functions, manage procurement and budgets, maintain staff records, arrange travel, and assist with financial reporting.
10. Administration Officer: Logistics & Stores (2 Posts)
(National Head Office — Zonderwater Training College; Ref: HO 2025/10/11)
Salary: R325 101 p.a.
Requirements:
- Degree/Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or Purchasing Management.
- 2–3 years’ supply chain experience.
- Computer literacy and valid driver’s licence.
Responsibilities:
Oversee SCM and logistics processes, monitor stock control, asset management, procurement, and ensure compliance with PFMA and Treasury Regulations.

Applications must be accompanied by a CV and certified copies of qualifications, and the ID cannot be older than 6 months.
