1. Registered Nurses

Requirements & Eligibility

Educational Qualification

  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Registered Nurse and/or Midwife.
  • A post-basic qualification in Operating Room Nursing Science / Peri-operative Nursing will be advantageous.

Professional and Legislative Compliance

  • Must comply fully with the SANC Code of Ethics for Registered Nurses and all applicable Health Care Legislation.

Experience

  • 2 – 5 years current working experience as a Scrub Nurse in a theatre environment.
  • Private-healthcare or health-care funding industry experience advantageous.
  • Cath Lab experience essential.

Core Skills & Knowledge

  • Excellent scrub technique and ability to anticipate surgical team needs.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving in complex intra-operative situations.
  • Sound understanding of infection control, safety standards, and clinical governance.
  • Proven ability to supervise and support junior staff.
  • Computer literacy (essential).
  • Fluent English communication skills (verbal & written).
  • Knowledge of cost containment, stock control and accurate charging practices.

Salary Range (Estimate)

The hospital has not published a fixed salary; private-sector benchmarks for scrub nurses in South Africa indicate:

Level Typical Range (per annum) Notes
Registered Nurse (Scrub) R 320 000 – R 480 000 Depends on years of experience and shift structure
Senior / Cath Lab Scrub Nurse R 480 000 – R 600 000 + For advanced specialists / on-call allowances

Exact offer will depend on qualification, experience, and internal parity.
