NWU CAREER (VACANT) POSITIONS, ROLES, REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

1. Audit Manager – Digital Audit Systems & Continuous Auditing

Requirements & Eligibility

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (NQF Level 7) in Informatics, Computer Science, or Accounting (essential).
  • Honours degree (NQF Level 8) in Data Science, Business Analytics, or Information Systems (essential).
  • Master’s degree (NQF Level 9) in IT Audit, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science (advantageous).

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ automation or risk analytics experience as a project manager or lead.
  • Proven record of auditing/programming within complex organisations (e.g. universities, public sector).
  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise software development, database integration, and risk-based auditing.

Professional Affiliations (Preferred)

  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA – ISACA).
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA – IIA).
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
  • Membership with IIA or ISACA or SAICA.
  • Certified Data Analyst / AI / Python qualification (DataCamp, Coursera, Udacity, etc.).

Technical Competencies

  • Advanced Python and SQL programming.
  • Databases: Oracle, MariaDB, MS Azure SQL.
  • Web development (Joomla CMS, PHP, Java, HTML/CSS).
  • Backend integration with MariaDB.
  • Server administration (Windows & Linux), security & backups.
  • DevOps tools (GitHub, shell scripting, task scheduling).
  • Data analytics / CAATs (Galvanize ACL, Highbond, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of COSO, IIA IPPF, and risk-based audit methodologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, MS Apps).
  • Valid driver’s licence (required).

Possible Salary
  • The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment and aligned with NWU’s policy guidelines.
  • NWU’s Peromnes Grade P7 typically falls within a market range of R820 000 – R1 000 000 per annum (TCTC), depending on qualifications and experience.
    (This range is indicative; final package determined by NWU remuneration policy.)

Step 5 – Submit Before the Closing Date

  • Applications close 31 October 2025 (23:59 SAST).
  • The portal automatically locks after deadline — late submissions cannot be processed.

Step 6 – Confirmation & Communication

  • After successful submission, you will receive a confirmation email.
  • Only short-listed applicants will be contacted for interviews and possible technical assessments.

Step 7 – Employment Equity & Verification

  • NWU subscribes to the Employment Equity Act and gives preference to designated groups in line with its EE Plan.
  • All appointments are subject to qualification, criminal, and reference checks.
