MANDATORY FEES BEYOND TUITION

The tuition figures above are not the only costs you will pay before registering. The following mandatory fees apply:

  • Non-refundable Application Fee: R200 — paid when submitting your postgraduate application online.
  • WBS Psychometric Assessment: R1,000 — required for some programmes as part of the admissions process. Subject to annual change.
  • Acceptance Deposit (PDBA): R15,000 — required upon accepting a place on the PDBA programme. Non-refundable.
  • First Payment before Registration (South African part-time students): R9,340 — mandatory upfront payment before you can be formally registered. If your total annual fee is less than R9,340, you pay the full balance before registration. This amount is subject to annual increases.
  • International Registration Fee (IRF): R6,970 — non-refundable, charged to all international students upon registration, on top of tuition.

PAYMENT STRUCTURES AND INCENTIVES (SOUTH AFRICAN STUDENTS)

  • Early settlement discount: 5% — if you pay your full annual tuition fee before registration, you receive a 5% discount on the total amount. This applies to self-funded students only (not short courses, online programmes, or sponsored students). For the MBA at R387,420, this saves R19,371.
  • Deferred payment: If you pay only the R9,340 upfront and defer the balance, interest accrues on the outstanding amount from 1 July 2026 at a rate of prime + 1%. This is a variable rate tied to the South African Reserve Bank’s prime lending rate. Carrying a large outstanding balance for several months can cost significantly more than the 5% discount you would have received by paying upfront.

PAYMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

  • Upfront payment required before registration: 75% of total tuition cost. For the MBA (R387,420), this is R290,565 before a single class is attended.
  • International Registration Fee (IRF): R6,970 — paid on top of the 75% tuition at registration.
  • Remaining 25% balance deadline: 30 June 2026. This is a firm deadline — missing it can affect registration status and study permit validity.
  • SADC students pay local tuition fees plus the IRF. Non-SADC international students may face a different fee structure — confirm with the university directly.
