Accra Institute of Tech, AIT Admission Requirements – 2022/2023

Therefore, this article contains the full list of all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses coupled with their general requirements.

For admission into programmes of study at the Accra Institute of Technology AIT  for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for a successful admission.

ACCRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Certificate of Technology (CTech) Entry Requirement
  • Senior Secondary/High School Certificate Examination (SS/HSCE) or West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE).
Diploma of Technology (DTech) Entry Requirement
  • Senior Secondary/High School Certificate Examination (SS/HSCE) or West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE) or equivalent With an aggregate score of 24 or better in six subjects including passes in: Three Core Subjects (including Core English, and Core Mathematics) plus Three Electives.
  • or a certificate in any program related to the field of study
Bachelors Degree Entry Requirement
  • Senior Secondary/High School Certificate Examination (SS/HSCE) or West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE) or equivalent With an aggregate score of 24 or better in six subjects including passes in: Three Core Subjects (including Core English, and Core Mathematics) plus Three Electives. For Engineering or Computer Science Programs, the Three electives should include Elective Mathematics and Elective Science (Physics, plus Chemistry or Biology).

OR any one or more of the following qualifications:

  • Two (2) GCE Advanced Level passes in Science and five GCE Ordinary Level credits in Science. Two (2) of the GCE Ordinary Level credits should be English and Mathematics.
  • Other recognised local and international diplomas and certificates (including City and Guilds) deemed equivalent to (i) or (ii) of the above will be considered on merit.
  • Holders of AIT’s CTech/DTech qualifications in a subject area relevant to the program the candidate is applying for. Candidates must meet the minimum score and other requirements that will be stipulated from time to time by the AIT Academic Standards Board to qualify for transfer to the degree program.
  • Holders of Teacher’s Certificate �A’ with a minimum of 3-year qualification experience.
  • HNC/HND Holders with Second Class Lower or better. The HNC/HND must be obtained in an equivalent or relevant subject area of the program the candidate is applying for. Qualified HNC holders will be admitted at Level 200 of the degree program and holders of HND will be admitted on a top-up program which starts at Level 300 of the degree program. For example, Level 200 for HNC or equivalent certificate holders and Level 300 for HND or equivalent certificate holders.
  • Mature Students Applicants who are 25 years and above working or having worked for 3 years or more can apply as mature candidates. Mature candidates will be required to write a university entrance examination in three papers: General Mathematics, English and General Studies equivalent to Senior Secondary/High School level. Only candidates with a pass mark of 60% or above in each of these papers will be admitted.

Masters Degree Entry Requirement
  • Master of Human Resource Management: Bachelor’s Degree with honours in any field of study or its equivalent, OR Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of working experiences in related field
  • Master of Project Management: Bachelor’s Degree with honours in any field of study or its equivalent, OR Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of working experiences in related field
  • Master of Business Administration: Bachelor’s Degree with honours or its equivalent in any field of study Work experience is an added advantage
  • Master of Management: Bachelor’s Degree with honours or its equivalent in any field of study Work experience is an added advantage
  • Master of Science (Business Administration): Bachelor’s Degree with honours in the areas of Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, Economics, Commerce or its equivalent OR Bachelor’s Degree in the areas of Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or Commerce AND must have at least 2 years working experience
  • Master of Education: Bachelor’s Degree with honours in education or its equivalent OR Bachelor’s Degree with Diploma in Education OR Teaching Diploma/ Certificate OR Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years work experience or its equivalent.
  • Master of Software Engineering: Bachelor’s Degree with honours in Computer Science/ Information Technology or its equivalent, OR Bachelor’s Degree with at least two years of working experiences in related field.
  • Master of Information Technology: Bachelor’s Degree with honours or its equivalent in any field of study Work experience is an added advantage
  • Master of Science: Bachelor’s Degree in Science / Mathematics / Health Science / Nursing Science / Science Education or its equivalent
  • Master of Science (Engineering): Bachelor’s Degree with honours in Engineering or its equivalent OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with at least two years relevant work experience
  • Master of Science (Computer Science): Bachelor’s Degree with Honours in Computer Science OR Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with at least two years relevant work experience

Admission of Higher National Diploma (HND) Holders onto the Master’s Degree Programmes
  • Higher National Diploma (HND) Holders with a minimum of 3 Years Post Qualification Relevant Work Experience can apply for admission onto the Coursework-based Master’s degree programs. Suitable candidates will addition be required to sit an entry exams and attend an interview.
Flexible Entry Requirements for Master Programs To be considered under Flexible Entry, applicants must meet the following requirements;
  • Be at least 30 years old on 1st of January (applied year) AND possess a Recognized Diploma or equivalent AND Possess prior learning experience and/or knowledge relevant to the program applied for.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degree Entry Requirement
  • PhD (Engineering): Master’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent
  • PhD (Business Administration): Master’s Degree in Business Administration/Management or equivalent
  • PhD (Information Technology): Master’s Degree in Information Technology (IT) or Computer Science or equivalent
  • PhD (Computer Science): Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent
  • PhD (Education): Master’s Degree in Education or equivalent
  • PhD (Mathematics): Master’s Degree in Mathematics or equivalent

ACCRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

  • All international applicants must hold equivalent qualifications as described above in addition to a proof of proficiency in English language for applicants who received academic instructions in languages other than English (shown on the application forms of the ACCRA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY).
  • Certificates would be sent for vetting with the appropriate state authorities including but not limited to West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and National Accreditation Board (NAB) to determine suitability for tertiary admission and study.
