The Ashesi University, AU 2024/2025 admission requirement for all the courses at the undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate level is updated every year. Â Therefore, this article contains the full list of all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses coupled with their general requirements.
For admission into programmes of study at the Ashesi University, AU for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for a successful admission.
ASHESI UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Entry requirements for a Undergraduate degree Programme
High School transcripts or report cards for at least six terms.
One of the following examination results is required:
West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE); Six subjects are used to calculate your standard WASSCE score: Integrated Science, Core Math, Core English and three electives. A minimum grade of C6 in each subject is required to apply.
Six IGCSE (G.C.E. O-Level) passes including Mathematics, English, and Science are required together with at least three ‘A’ Level passes (with grade A-D)
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma
American / Canadian High School Diploma
French Baccalaureate (a certified copy of the original score and a certified translated copy in English)
Other equivalent exam results approved by the National Accreditation Board of Ghana.
In addition to meeting the standard admissions requirements, applications from international students must meet the following requirements:
Certified Translation: Transcripts or other supporting documents submitted by international applicants in a language other than English must be translated and certified as copies of the original document(s).
Evidence of English Language proficiency: International students for who English was not a language of instruction during high school, must submit evidence of English language proficiency, including but not limited to the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Engineering Students Open or Close
West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE):Â Three core subjects including Mathematics, English and Science, and three elective subjects including Elective Mathematics and Physics, with a C6 or better in each of them.
A-Level: Three A-Level passes (A-D) including Mathematics and Physics, and six IGCSE (G.C.E. O-Level) passes including Mathematics, English, and Science are required for admission to Ashesi. A grade of D or better in Further Mathematics instead of Mathematics is also acceptable for entry as a prospective engineering major.
International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma:Â For prospective engineering students, Mathematics SL with a 5 or better, or Mathematics HL with a 3 or better is acceptable to fulfil the entry mathematics requirement; similarly, Physics SL with a 5 or better, or Physics HL with a 3 or better is acceptable to fulfil the entry physics requirement. However, Mathematics HL and Physics HL are expected to be a competitive engineering applicant.
ASHESI UNIVERSITY POSTGRADUATEÂ ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Candidates seeking admission to PhD programmes must:
Have an MPhil or research MA/MEd/MSc/MBA degree in an appropriate field of study from a recognised university.
Have MA/Med/MSc/MBA degree in an appropriate field, with CGPA of 3.5 or better with not more than grade C+. Also, have scored B+ or better in Research Methods course.
Submit an official transcript of academic record.
Submit at least three referee reports, one of whom must be from a former Lecturer.
Submit a 3-5 page proposal on intended area of study including a working bibliography
Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/ Department (e.g. selection interview)
Master of Philosophy/Commerce/Nursing (MPhil/MCom/MN) Programmes
Candidates seeking admission to MPhil/MCom/MN degree programmes must:
Have obtained a good first degree (at least a second class division) in an appropriate field of study from a recogniseduniversity/analogous institution.
Submit an official transcript of academic record.
Submit at least two referee reports, one of whom must be from a former Lecturer.
Submit a 2-3 page proposal on intended area of study including references.
Pass a selection interview.
Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/Â Department (e.g. selection interview)
Master of Arts/Science/Education/Business Administration (MA/MSc/MEd/MBA) Programmes
Candidates seeking admission to MA/MSc/MEd/MBA degree programmes must:
Have obtained a good first degree (at least a second class division) in an appropriate field of study from a recogniseduniversity/analogous institution.
Submit an official transcript of academic record.
Submit names of two referees, one of whom must be a former Lecturer.
Satisfy any additional requirements prescribed by the College/Faculty/School/ Department.
