Ghana Institute of Languages, GIL Admission Requirements – 2023/2024

The Ghana Institute of Languages, GIL 2024/2025 admission requirement for all their courses at the undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate level is updated every year. Ghana Institute of Languages, GIL Admission Requirements - 2020 Therefore, this article contains the full list of all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses coupled with their general requirements. For admission into programmes of study at the Anglican Ghana Institute of Languages, GIL for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for a successful admission.

Entry requirements for School of Bilingual Secretaryship (SOBS)
Students seeking admission to the 3-year Higher National Diploma(HND) of the Ghana Institute of Languages, GIL must have any of the following:
  1. Senior High School Certificate with credits in English, French, Mathematics, social studies and any other subjects, or
  2. G.C.E “O” Level/West Africa School Certificate with credits in five (5) subjects including English, French and Mathematics, Or
  3. Baccalaureat – All categories with at least 8/20 in Mathematics and English.
Entry requirements for School of Translators (SOT)
Students seeking admission to the 4-year (for Francophones)/5-year (for Anglophones) degree programme of the Ghana Institute of Languages, GIL must have any of the following:
  1. Senior High School Certificate/ WASSCE with credits in core Mathematics, Social studies and any 2 other subjects, or
  2. Three (3) G.C.E passes at the advanced level in French and Literature-in-English and any other subject, Or
  3. University degree in modern languages including French (Francophone) and English (Anglophone)
  4. Baccalaureat series A4 with a minimum of 12 in English.

Entry requirements for Mature Entry Applicants
  • Mature students: applicants must be 25 years old and above.
  • Should show proof of birth certificate or any legal document of age declaration and document should be at least 5 years old at the time of the application.
  • Should show an introductory letter from employer or a proof of employment (only applicable to those applying for the degree programme)
  • Sit and obtain a good pass in the entrance exam.

GHANA INSTITUTE OF LANGUAGES INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

  1. Applicants with similar qualification or its equivalence (as specified above) can apply for admission consideration.
  2. International applicants should have a valid passport.
  3. Should be ready to acquire a resident permit and abide by the regulations governing the status of foreigners in Ghana.
