JKUAT Digital Learning Portal - sodel4.jkuat.ac.ke

The Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) seeks to improve learning processes for its students. The university operates a multi-portal digital ecosystem serving both School of Open, Distance and e-Learning (SODeL) students and mainstream campus students. This guide covers how to access the key portals for the 2026 academic year.

Note (2026): JKUAT uses different portals depending on your student type. SODeL (distance learning) students use sodel4.jkuat.ac.ke as their main portal. Mainstream campus students use portal.jkuat.ac.ke as their central hub. All students use the dedicated examination portal at mtihani.jkuat.ac.ke for final examinations. The June 2026 intake is currently ongoing on sodel4.

STEPS ON HOW TO ACCESS AND ENROL FOR THE JKUAT DIGITAL LEARNING PORTAL.

The following is a guide on how to access the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) Digital Learning Portal.

  1. Open your internet browser e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, etc.
  2. Go to the JKUAT SODeL Digital Learning Portal (sodel4.jkuat.ac.ke). This is the main portal for SODeL distance learning students for the 2026 intake.
  3. Select Log in and enter your username and password. New SODeL students should monitor their registered email address after completing admission and fee payment formalities, as login credentials are sent via email upon enrollment confirmation.
  4. Once logged in, your enrolled courses for the current semester will appear on your dashboard.
  5. Select your course. You can also search for courses using the course directory at sodel4.jkuat.ac.ke/course/search.php.
  6. You will then see the content for your course, including lecture notes, reading materials, assignments, and any available recorded lectures.

For Mainstream Campus Students (2026): Your primary portal is the JKUAT Student Portal at https://portal.jkuat.ac.ke. Create your account using your student Registration Number. Once logged in, navigate to the e-learning section to access your course materials, which are supported by the Curricula & Delivery E-Learning Portal at https://elearning.jkuat.ac.ke.

For Final Examinations — All Students (2026): Final examinations are not taken on sodel4 or the mainstream e-learning portal. All students — both SODeL and mainstream — must use the dedicated secure examination portal at https://mtihani.jkuat.ac.ke. The full list of active examination courses, including SODeL Feb–June 2026 categories, is available at mtihani.jkuat.ac.ke/course/index.php.

For Semester Schedules (SODeL Students): The official semester schedule, including CAT dates — e.g. “SEMESTER SCHEDULE FEB – JUNE 2026” — is hosted on the legacy portal at https://sodel3v2.jkuat.ac.ke. Check this portal regularly for official academic calendar information.

FORGOTTEN PASSWORD / TECHNICAL SUPPORT

  • For password resets and all technical issues related to portal access, contact the official JKUAT IT Helpdesk at https://www.jkuat.ac.ke/department/helpdesk/. Have your Registration Number ready when contacting the helpdesk. Do not use unofficial third-party websites or forums for credential recovery.
