Application for the Mount Kenya University, MKU Access Short-Term Master Applications – 2020/2021 Entry is now open for all outstanding Students at the Mount Kenya University in Kenya.
This is a short-term, part time scholarship financed by the DAAD with funding from the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development. The grant is aimed at enabling the grant holder to develop and commence implementation of a research idea within the time of the grant (3-4 months) that leads to a fully completed research findings or a prototype by the end of the designated time. Research ideas that can be completed within the designated time are encouraged.
Research Areas
The proposed short-term research, business idea or prototype, should address a topical issue in one of the following pillars of the ACCESS project: Entrepreneurship Capacity Building, Employability Research and University Business Linkages. Ideas that cut across more than one pillar are also encouraged.
The Scholarships are one of the most prestigious scholarships in Kenya. The aim of the program is to create a global network of future leaders committed to improving the lives of others.
The scholarship grant will be in the form of a monthly allowance of 425.00 Euros. There are no additional funds for field work activities.
MKU CHANCELLOR’S SCHOLARSHIP ELIGIBILITY
Scholars are selected on the following criteria:
- Applicants must be Kenya Nationals aged below 35 years
- They must be registered in an ongoing master programme in an accredited Institution in Kenya
- Successful grant holders will be required to sign a short-term scholarship contract
MKU CHANCELLOR’S SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
The applicant shall be expected to submit a 2-page concept paper. Research tools (questionnaires, interview guides, interview schedules, etc) should be sent together with the application as attachments.

- Two letters of recommendation from academic referees, one of whom should be at the position of a Dean, HOD or academic advisor/supervisor
- Cover letter indicating your motivation, area of interest and the ACCESS project pillar you are applying for

Note:
- Applicants must attach all academic certificates and transcripts and where applicable a practicing licence
- All certificates and transcripts that are not in English must be translated. Support documents with no official translations will not be considered.
- All applications will be acknowledged by a way of an auto-generated email
- Only applications received by the due date and time will be considered. The system will automatically reject late applications.
