For admission into programs of study at the Oshwal College, Nairobi for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for successful admission.
OSHWAL COLLEGE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Accounts Department
1. ACCA – The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK
Student Registration is open to candidates who have any of the following qualifications:
- A level (at least 2 principal passes)
- Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) – mean grade of C+ as well as a C in both English and Mathematics
- CPA Part 1 holders
- Accounting Technician Course (ATC) Intermediate and Final
- Degree from a recognized university
- ACCA Foundation in Accounting (FIA) course certificate
- IGCSE 6 credits including English and Mathematics and GCE 3 B’s
Exemptions
Students holding University Degrees are eligible for exemptions
- Relevant Degrees: e.g. Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting Option)
- EXEMPTION: Knowledge papers
- Non-relevant Degrees: e.g. Bachelor of Science or Arts & ATC final
- EXEMPTION: Two papers in Foundation Stage
ACCA exemptions are subject to confirmation by ACCA.
2. FIA- Foundation In Accountancy Level Qualifications, UK
- Entry requirements:
None for students registered for Foundations in Accountancy. - Work experience:
None for those registered for Foundations in Accountancy.
3. DIPIFR – Diploma in International Financial Reporting
Entry requirements
Professional accountants and auditors working in practice and industry and qualified in national accounting standards are eligible to take the qualification.
Practitioners not yet qualified, but who can verify the following, are also eligible:
- Two years’ relevant accounting experience and a relevant degree (attracting at least ACCA qualification exemptions F1-F4)
- Two years‘ relevant accounting experience and an ACCA Certificate in International Financial Reporting
- Three years’ relevant accounting experience
- ACCA affiliate status
Work experience: None involved in qualifying, but the qualification is designed to accompany relevant work.
4. CPA(K) – Certified Public Accountant, KASNEB-KENYA
- KCSE mean grade C+ with a minimum grade C+ in both English and Mathematics.
- Advanced education (A level) certificate with 2 principal passes and credits in Mathematics and English at secondary education level.
- KASNEB technician or professional examination certificate.
- A degree from a recognised university.
- Such other certificates or diplomas as may be approved by KASNEB.
5. ACA-ICAEW – The Institute of Chartered Accountants, UK
- Members of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) who have obtained ICPAK membership
- Study for the ACA under a training agreement with an organization that is an ICAEW authorized training employer
Register with ICAEW
- ICPAK member, automatically awarded credit –(exemptions) from 12 of the 15 ACA exam modules
- ICPAK Practicing Certificate you will be awarded credit for one year work experience (including 150 days technical work experience)
6. CFA – The Chartered Financial Analyst, USA
A student must have:
- A bachelor’s degree or be in their final undergraduate year at the time of registration.
- At least 4 years of qualified professional work experience.
To register for the course at Oshwal College, all interested students should bring the following:
- 2 passport size photographs,
- Original and photocopies of relevant academic and professional certificates
- A copy of National ID and a passport.
CFA Examination Registration
- Register for CFA exam either online or print and fill the necessary forms. Sign and complete; the Professional Conduct Inquiry & the terms of the Candidate Responsibility Statement. Pay the required fees.
- Sequentially pass the three Level’s exams.
- Join CFA Institute as a member. Provide current completed sponsor forms. Sign and complete the Professional Conduct Statement. Exhibit a high degree of ethical and professional conduct. Apply for membership with a CFA Institute member society
CISI – Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, UK
- KCSE and its equivalents
- Appropriate level of English Language
7. Pearson BTEC Business – Accounting & Finance, UK
- 18 years of age with GCE
- A-Level or other equivalent qualifications
- Level 3 (Business Foundation) or equivalent qualifications
- BTEC Business Level 3 Extended Diploma
- Mature students with related work experience

- KCSE with an aggregate of C+ and a minimum grade of C in English and Mathematics
- Have equivalent qualifications subject to approval by the Examinations Board.

1. BSc.(Hons) in Computing (in collaboration with University of Greenwich), UK
Two Year(Top UP) Programme
Qualifications for entry will be assessed on an individual basis for each applicant. The other basic minimum qualifications are:
- Pearson HND Business Information Systems or other recognized HND computing programs
- KNEC Advanced Diploma in Computing.
- Higher National Certificate in Computing
- A two year diploma in IT/Computing from a reputable institution
- Diploma in Computing, IT or multimedia which are equivalent in standard to a UK Higher National Diploma will be accepted provided it gives the prerequisite knowledge and understanding required for the programme.
- IMIS Higher Diploma
- ABE Advanced Diploma in Business Information Systems.
- ACP Advanced Diploma
- NCC International Advanced Diploma in Computer Studies
- BCS Diploma or Professional Graduate Diploma
- Any other program of equivalent academic standards, as formally recognized by the University of Greenwich AND Be aged at least 19 years at the start of the program
- Equivalent qualification: Students with any other relevant academic qualifications and work experience as approved by UoG.
Three Year Programme
Entry requirements:
Qualifications for entry will be assessed on an individual basis for each applicant. The basic minimum qualifications are:
Students must have successfully completed one of the following:
- Equivalent of two (2) A levels at grade C or above
- KCSE Mean Grade C+ and above with a minimum of grade C in Maths and English.
- Students who wish to transfer from universities in Kenya after they have successfully completed first year or above on similar program AND Be aged at least 19 years at the start of the program.
2. Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Computing, UK
- BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma
- BTEC Level 3 – Foundation Diploma
- Mature students with work experience and RPL
