UMYU Postgraduate Application Forms – 2023/2024 Admission

It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that the School of Graduate Studies, UMYU, is offering the graduate programmes for the 2023 academic year leading to the award of Postgraduate Diploma, Masters and Doctorate Degrees.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS, and SPECIAL CASES.

UMYU POSTGRADUATE APPLICATION PROCEDURE & ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Entry Requirements: 

A. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA    

The following shall qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma admission:

1. Graduates of recognized Universities;
2. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit pass or its equivalent in relevant areas;
3. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) without Education obtained at Credit level with a three years relevant postgraduate experience;
4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate and Senate of the University.
5. Candidates with Third Class degree in areas other than Education can be considered after three years relevant postgraduate experience. Those in the Education may be considered in their area of specialization;
6. All candidates shall be subjected to a selection process.

B. MASTER’S DEGREE

The following shall qualify for the Master’s Degree Programmes: –

1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors Degree in relevant field, with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent.
2. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

     The following shall qualify for Professional Masters’ degree admission:

1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained the approved Bachelors Degree in relevant field, with at least Second-Class Honors or its equivalent.
2. Candidates with any Bachelor’s degree in Third Class division who have at least five years relevant working experience.
3. Candidates who possess Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a Credit pass and at least a Credit pass at Postgraduate Diploma of a recognized Institution;
4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Senate of the University.

C. DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (PhD)

The following shall qualify for the Doctor of Philosophy admission:

1. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained a good Masters Degree appropriate to the proposed areas of study;
2. Graduates of recognized Universities who have obtained Masters of Philosophy degree with considered high CGPA to proceed for PHD in the appropriate field to the proposed areas of study;
3. In addition to (i) – (ii)above, a candidate must possess at least a Bachelors degree in Second Class lower division;
4. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the above, which are acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University;
5. Candidate must state the proposed area of research and submit a synopsis of not less than 500 words of the proposed topic of research.

Matriculation Requirement:

In addition to A, B and C above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s matriculation requirements of the programme i.e five Credit Passes at the O’level to include English and Mathematics.

Application Procedure

All applicants are required to use the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University [UMYU] online application portal.  The procedure for the online application process is as follows:

1. Log on to http://portal.umyu.edu.ng/pgapplication/
2. Read the Qualification Criteria.
3. Click on ‘Register’ above to fill the registration form. Ensure you type the PIN Code obtained from the bank correctly NOTE: Registration is to be done once. If you have registered before just Login to continue filling your form.
4. On successful registration, you will receive a success email from ‘The Umaru Musa Yar’adua’.
5. Click on ‘Login’ to login, and follow the steps below make payment.
   • Step 1: Click on payment button
   • Step 2: Select any of the following  PAYMENT MODE OPTION AVAILABLE
   • PAY-CHOICE:
     This option enable you generate TID and pay cash over the Bank counter at Fidelity Bank or any of the participating Banks listed below:

   • Keystone Bank ltd
   • Union Bank Plc
   • FCMB plc
   • Skye Bank Plc

   • Log on to your  Profile
   • Generate Transaction
   • Log on to www.quickteller.com/umyu and follow the instruction 
   • COLLEGE PAY:
   • Log on to your  Profile
   • Select Collage pay option you will be redirected to Interswitch payment page
   • Fill in your Card details required and follow the instruction
6. After a successful payment, Click on ‘Login’ to login, then you can start filling the forms.
7. Edit your Application Profile (This will require a passport photo and your biodata).
8. Edit your Institution Attended.
9. Edit your Qualifications (WASSCE, and other Certificates are entered here).
10. Select your choice of Service and Course.
11. Edit/Upload Documents (Attach your Certificates here). The next section (Declaration and submission of form) will not be displayed untill all sections have been filled correctly.
12. Select your choice of Programe and Course.
13. Edit/Upload Documents (Attach your Certificates here). The next section (Declaration and submission of form) will not be displayed untill all sections have been filled correctly.
14. Print your Admission Form Card and Profile Form.
