It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that the School of Graduate Studies, UNIBEN, is offering the graduate programmes for the 2024 academic year leading to the award of Masters, PGD and Doctorate Degrees.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS, and SPECIAL CASES.
UNIBEN POSTGRADUATE APPLICATION PROCEDURE & ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Entry Requirements:
- A Candidate for postgraduate studies in the university of Benin must have obtained at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level or their equivalents,) A credit pass in Maths and English is required.
- Four credits of Ordinary level plus OND (not pass), NCE, IJMB or Advance level passes.
- A holder of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) is not qualified for admission into the postgraduate programme of the University of Benin. In addition, all holders of 3rd class degree must possess PGD to be considered for admission into the Master’s programmes.
- Candidates who obtained Masters degree but with Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can only be considered for admission into the M.Phil programme in the first instance.
- A candidate applying for the PhD in any programme of the University of Benin must have obtained a weighted average score of 60% or letter grade ‘B’ average in the Master’s degree.
- A candidate applying for the PhD with a Master’s degree from any other University who in his/her Master’s study has not previously taken the compulsory courses or their equivalents similar to the ones in the University of Benin shall on admission be required to offer and pass such courses with a minimum of 60% or letter grade ‘B’.
- Only students who have the NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate can be allowed to clear into the different courses.
Transcripts: Candidates should request for their transcript from their former institution to forward their academic transcript(s) to the “Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies”, to reach him not later than 8 weeks from the date of this publication. Applications of candidates whose transcripts are not forwarded to the school shall not be processed.
Application Procedure
- Click on the “Online Application”, click on “Start a new application”, read the instruction and click on “continue”
- Fill in your personal data and Select “Programme Type”, Faculty, Department and Programme for both first and second choice course.
- Click on “Pay With Card” to make application fee payment with either Visa or Master Card on Remita.
- Application Number will be generated after successful payment and Reference Number will be sent to the specified and functional “Email Address”.
- If your System went off during or before you could see your application number and you were debited but application number was not generated, Send your reference or RRR number to myuniben@socketworksng.com and we will furnish you with your Application Number.
- Upload your Passport and Check the passport format. The format must be “Jpeg” and not more than 100kb.
- You must fill all required fields especially your email address before proceeding to Payment
- If you have a result other than WAEC and NECO, kindly select “Other” and fill in the name of such exam in the space provided.
- Submit and Printout the Online completed Application Form and referee form.
