The University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID Admission Requirements: 2024/2025 for all the courses at the undergraduate, diploma and postgraduate level is updated every year. Therefore, this article contains the full list of all the undergraduate and Postgraduate courses coupled with their general requirements. For admission into programmes of study at the University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for successful admission.

General Admission Requirements
Gaining admission into an Undergraduate Programme in Unimaid is basically under 2 entry method which includes the UTME entry and the Direct Entry.
UNIMAID admission requirements through UTME 
To gain admission into the University of Maiduguri in 2024, UTME candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Candidates must have reached the age of 16.
  • Candidates must have at least 6 (six) “Cs (Credits)” grades in their O’level result (s). This must include English Language, Mathematics and three other subjects related to their course of study. For instance, a Candidate that wants to study law must have a “C” in English Language, Mathematics, Government/History, Economics and Literature in English.
  • Candidates must score at least 120 in JAMB UTME examination
  • Candidates must take UNIMAID post UTME screening examination and must perform very well in the examination (Depending on the course of study)
  • Not more than ONE sitting results is accepted for admission into the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID)
  • Candidates must choose the correct subject combination for their courses.
  • Finally, candidates must meet the stipulated cutoff marks for their courses to gain admission into the university.
UNIMAID admission requirements through Direct Entry 
Candidates who wish to gain admission through direct entry into the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) must meet the following requirements:
  • Candidates must possess at least five (5) Credits in their O’level result. This must include English Language and Mathematics. However, two sitting result is not allowed.
  • Candidates must have also reached the age of 16.
  • Candidates are expected to get JAMB Directly entry form from JAMB to apply.
  • Candidates should have any of the following certificates: OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, ICAN

Agriculture Minimum of 5 credits which must include Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, English Language and either Physics, Geography or Agricultural Science at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma in Agricultural Technology, Animal Health and Husbandry, Animal Production, Fisheries or Forestry, 9 points in NCE and IJMB

Faculty of Artsa) Arabic Studies Minimum of 5 credits including Mathematics, English Language and I.R.K or Arabic and 2 other subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.
b) Islamic Studies Minimum of 5 credits including Mathematics, English Language and I.R.K or Arabic and 2 other subjects at not more than two sittings Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.
c) English Minimum of 5 credits including Mathematics, English Language, and 3 other subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.
d) History Minimum of 5 credits which must include English Language, Mathematics, History, Government or Civic plus 2 other subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.
e) Language & Linguistics Minimum of 5 credits including Mathematics, English Language, French/Hausa/Arabic for those offering the subjects plus 2 other subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.
Faculty of Educationa) Continuing Education Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics and at least 2 credits in relevant teaching subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.
b) B.A. Education, B.Sc. Education, Business Education, Agric. Education, and Social Science Education Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics and at least 2 credits in relevant teaching subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.
c) Physical/Health Education Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology and at least 2 credits in any subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.

Faculty of Lawa) LLB b) LLB and Sharia Minimum of 5 credits which must include English Language, Literature in English, Mathematics and any other 2 subjects from Govt, Econs, Geo or Arts Subjects at not more than two sittings.For LLB and Sharia, Arabic or Islamic Studies must be one of the two subjects. Minimum of 200 points in UTME for LLB and 190 points in UTME for LLB & Sharia. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma (Law), 10 points from IJMB plus ‘O’ level requirements.Second Class Upper Degree in Arts and Social Science courses.
Faculty of Phar-macyB. Phar-macy Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 200 points in UTME. Minimum of Upper Credit in Diploma in Phar-macy Technician and Other Phar-macy Related Courses and 10 points in IJMB.First Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Pharmacology, Human Anatomy
Faculty of Sciencea) Biological Sciences Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Either Phy/Geo/Agric Sc. at not more than 2 sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME for (Botany and Zoology) and 170 points in UTME for (Environmental Biology). Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma/HND, 9 points in NCE sand IJMB and GCE ‘A’ level.
b) Chemistry Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma/HND, 9 points in NCE and IJMB.
c) Geology Minimum of 5 credits which includes English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Geography at not more than two sittings Minimum of 170 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma/HND, 9 points in NCE and IJMB plus the credits mentioned in the ‘O’ level requirements.
d) Mathematical Sciences Minimum of 5 credits in science subjects including English Language, Mathematics or Further Mathematics, Physics. Other two subjects for Maths are Bio/Agric, and Chem/Geo. For Stat. Bio/Agric, and Chem/Econs. Computer can take the combination of either Maths or Stat at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME for Maths and Stat, 170 points in UTME for Computer Sci. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma/HND, 9 points in NCE and IJMB plus the credits mentioned in ‘O’ level requirements.
e) Microbiology Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology at not more than two sittings Minimum of 170 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, SLTTP in Microbiology or any related discipline plus the credits mentioned in ‘O’ level requirements.
f) Physics Minimum of 5 relevant credits which must include English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology/Agric. Science at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points in NCE and IJMB plus the credits mentioned in the ‘O’ level requirements.
g) Biochemistry Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 170 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma, 9 points IJMB (Biology, Mathematics, Chemistry or Physics).
Faculty of Social Sciencesa) Geography Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics and Geography and any other two Subjects from Arts, Sciences or Social Sciences Subjects at not more than two sittings Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma (Geography, Surveying, Estate Management, Town Planning, Architecture etc), 9 points in IJMB and NCE plus the credits mentioned in the ‘O’ level requirements.
b) Sociology and Anthropology Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics and 3 other subjects from Econs, History, Govt, IRK/CRK, Geography, Civic Educ. at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma and 9 points in NCE and IJMB
c) Economics Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Maths, Economics and 2 other Social Science subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 170 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma/HND, 9 points in IJMB/NCE plus ‘O’ level requirements.
d) Mass Communication Minimum of 5 credits including English Language, Mathematics plus three (3) credits in any of the following: Economics, Geography , I. R. K/C. R. K, any Major Nigerian language, History/Government, English Literature at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 190 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma in Mass Communication, Journalism , 9 points in IJMB plus ‘‘O’ level requirements.
e) Political Science Minimum of 5 credits which must include English Language, Mathematics, Government/History and any other 2 from Civic Educ., Econs, Geography or any of the Arts Subjects at not more than two sittings. Minimum of 160 points in UTME. Minimum of Lower Credit/Merit in Diploma/HND in the relevant fields, 9 points in IJMB and NCE plus ‘O’ level requirements.
Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Minimum of 5 credits in relevant subjects (English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology and Physics or Agric. Science) at no more than 2 sittings. Minimum of 200 points in UTME. Minimum of Credit in Animal Health and Production Diploma, 10 points in IJMB plus the credits mentioned in the ‘‘O’ level requirements.

  1. Pls I applied for biochemistry and I score 175 in my UTME exam and still I did not get adimission. Pls unimaid offer me adimission pls

    What is the school fees for indigene and non indigene students?.
