It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that the School of Graduate Studies, UNIOSUN, is offering the postgraduation programmes for the 2023 academic year leading to the award of Masters, PGD and Doctorate Degrees.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS, and SPECIAL CASES.

UNIOSUN POSTGRADUATE APPLICATION PROCEDURE & ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Entry Requirements: 

Candidates seeking for admission into all the programmes of the Osun State University must possess a minimum of 5 credits, including English Language and four other relevant subjects, obtained at not more than two sittings, except as otherwise required. Candidate with ‘O’ Level Examination results obtained up till 2010 must present original of their certificates for screening as their statements of results and/or result slips are unacceptable. Every candidate in regular employment must submit, with his/her application, a formal letter of release for postgraduate studies by his/her employer.. In addition to the general requirements, an applicant is expected to fulfill specific requirement as follows:

Department of History and International Studies

(i) Masters of Arts (M.A) in History and International Studies|DURATION- MINIMUM OF 2 SEMESTERS

A minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in History and International Studies of Osun States University, or History and Diplomatic Studies; History and Strategic Studies; or History of any other institution recognized by Senate of Osun State.

(ii) Master in International Studies (MIS) (Professional) and (iii) Master in Intelligence and Strategic Studies (MISS) (Professional)|DURATION- MINIMUM OF 2 SEMESTERS

A minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) Bachelor’s degree in the disciplines in Humanities, Social Sciences, or other relevant fields from Osun State University or any other university recognized by Senate of UNIOSUN. In exceptional cases, mature candidates with Third Class degree in relevant disciplines and with cognate working experience for a minimum of 5 years may be considered for admission.

M.Sc. Geography|DURATION- MINIMUM OF 2 SEMESTERS

A minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree in Geography of Osun State University or any other university recognized by Senate of UNIOSUN.

B. Centre for Climate Change and Environmental Research

(i) Master of Science (M.Sc) in Environmental Management (Professional)|DURATION- MINIMUM OF 2 SEMESTERS

A minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) in Geography as Social Science, Applied and Physical Sciences, Technology or Education of Osun State University or any other recognized university by Senate of UNIOSUN. However, in exceptional cases, candidates with Third Class degree, but also with Postgraduate Diploma, or Third Class degree with cognate three year’s working experience may be considered under certain conditions as stipulated in regulation 7(i) and 10 (ii) of Postgraduate Handbook. Candidates with HND (Upper Credit) as well as three years cognate working experience in related disciplines as stated above from a recognized institution may be admitted.

(ii) Master of Science (M.Sc) in Disaster and  Risk Management (Professional)|DURATION- MINIMUM OF 2 SEMESTERS

A minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) degree of Osun State University or any other University recognized by Senate of UNIOSUN in Social Sciences, Sciences, Engineering, Social Medicine, Environmental Sciences, Town Planning, Agriculture, Forestry and Communication or Information Technology. In addition, candidates with HND (Upper Credit) and at least three (3) years cognate experience in Social Sciences, Environmental and Engineering programmes as well as related disciplines from recognized institution as approved by Senate of Osun State University may be considered. Graduates with Third Class degree with Postgraduate Diploma from recognized Universities, or Third class degree in disciplines specified here with cognate three years’ experience may also be considered.

In addition to the University general regulations and guidelines on Postgraduate admission, applicants into Masters Degree in Applied Mathematics shall be Holders of the basic requirements for admission into B. Sc (Mathematics) Programme of Osun State University in addition to the following requirements; Graduates of Osun State University or any other recognized University with at least a Second Class (Lower Division) Honours Degree in Mathematics, Computer Science or Statistics. Graduates of Statistics and computer Science may however be advised to audit some prerequisite undergraduate core courses in Mathematics. 

Application Procedure

All application forms into the various postgraduate programmes of the University are purchased, filled, submitted and processed online via http://postgraduate.uniosun.edu.ng. All Postgraduate application forms cost =N= 10,000.00 (Ten Thousand Naira Only), and is paid through Interswitch Payment Platform using ATM/Nigeria Debit Card. Please read the general information on (Online) e-payment System Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS). Please note that the Postgraduate College, UNIOSUN disclaims any purchase that is not on UNIOSUN PG Portal via InterSwitch Payment platform. No cash payment or bank to bank transfer to any account is allowed. Beware of Fraudsters!!!

CHANGE OF NAMES BY STUDENT

• All students should graduate with the names by which they are admitted to the University
• Only female students may, as a result of change in marital status, and with acceptable documentary proof, be allowed to change their names.
• For the avoidance of doubt, no change of name by any male student will be recognized by the University, unless supported by a Court Affidavit.

DOCUMENTS TO UPLOAD

In addition to the information required on the application form, you will need to upload scanned copies of the following document during online registration. They are:

• Scanned copy of O’ level Result(s)
• Scanned copy of Degree Certificate(s)
• Scanned copy of NYSC discharge / exception certificates (Nigerians Only)

SUBMISSION OF ACADEMIC TRANSCRIPTS

All applicants must forward their transcripts to reach The Secretary, Postgraduate College, Osun State University, P.M.B 4494, Osogbo,Osun State, Nigeria. Please note that any application without Transcript will not be considered for admission.

INTERNATIONAL/FOREIGN CANDIDATES

All foreign candidates must satisfy the following requirements, aside the normal entry requirements for every programme, before they can proceed with their studies in the University, if offered admission:

• Admission Letter
•  International Passport or ECOWAS Travel Certificates
• Valid VISA-STR (Subject to Regularization)
• Residence Permit
