UNIUYO Postgraduate Application Forms – 2023/2024 Admission

It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that the School of Graduate Studies, UNIUYO, is offering the postgraduate programmes for the 2023/2024 academic year leading to the award of Masters, Postgraduate Diploma and Doctorate Degrees.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS, and SPECIAL CASES.

UNIUYO POSTGRADUATE APPLICATION PROCEDURE & ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Entry Requirements: 

1. To qualify for admission into the Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) programme, applicants should be graduates of the University of Uyo or any other university recognized by the Senate of the University of Uyo, or persons who hold qualifications adjudged by the Senate of the University of Uyo to be equivalent to first degree or holders of recognized Higher National
2. To qualify for admission into a master’s degree programme, an applicant should be a graduate with at least a Second Class Honours degree in the Lower Division (irrespective of CGPA)
3. Candidates for admission into Sc Medical Microbiology should be graduates of one of the following:
   1. Microbiology
   2. Virology and a Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology (PGDM)
   3. MBBCh/MBBS or its equivalent
4. Applicants for admission into Doctoral Degree programmes should be graduates of the University of Uyo or any other university recognised by the Senate of the University of Uyo, who possess Master’s degrees with dissertation and an overall average score of at least 60% (B).

Additional Requirements 

1. All applicants should have credit pass at Ordinary Level in five relevant subjects including the English Language obtained at not more than two Candidates with ‘O’ Level examination results before 2016 must possess their certificates and not a statement of results or result slips.
2. Applicants for LLM and PhD in Law must have credit pass in English Literature as one of the five relevant Ordinary levels
3. Applicants for the Faculty of Agriculture must have credit passes in chemistry as one of the five relevant Ordinary levels
4. All applicants will undergo a screening test which will cover the subject area of specialization and oral interaction in the Department.
5. NYSC Completion Certificates (Discharge Certificates), Exemption Certificates or Exclusion Certificates is required from all One of these certificates must be submitted with the application form or before the screening test is taken.
6. Applicants who obtained their first degrees through Remedial Programmes must show evidence of having remedied the relevant subjects for their programmes externally; that is, through WASCE, NECO,
7. In addition to other qualifications, applicants are expected to meet the departmental requirements for their programmes.
8. Applicants must return their completed application forms with two hard copies of their Project Proposal (for those applying for PGD), Dissertation Proposal (for those applying for master’s programme) or Thesis Proposal (for those applying for PhD programmes). The research proposal which must be captured on the prescribed Postgraduate School Proposal Sheet should be word-processed with Times New Roman, font size 12, and one and a half line spacing using the following heading and subheadings:
   1. TITLE (22 words maximum)
   2. CANDIDATE’S NAME
   3. ABSTRACT (150 words maximum)
   4. INTRODUCTION/AIMS/Objectives
   5. RELEVANCE OF STUDY
   6. METHODOLOGY
   7. ETHICAL ISSUES
   8. EXPECTED RESULTS
   9. INNOVATIONS
   10. REFERENCES (a minimum of 20 references).
9. Candidates should ensure that their official academic transcript(s) and three letters of reference are forwarded to:
   1. The Secretary Postgraduate School University of Uyo
   2. P.M.B. 1017 Uyo
   3. Akwa Ibom State.
10. Admissions may not normally be offered without the transcript(s)  and letters of reference.

Application Procedure

• Application Forms can be accessed online on payment of the sum of N15,000.00 (Fifteen Thousand Naira) only.
• To make a payment, generate Remita Retrieval Reference H (RRRH) via http://eportals.uniuyo.edu.ng and make payment in any commercial bank nationwide. After payment, return to the portal to complete your registration by clicking on Login form Link and enter your RRRH.

Appication Deadline

All completed Application Forms with

• photocopies of relevant credentials,
• a duplicate copy of the receipt of payment for the Application Form,
• two copies of the research proposal, etc should be forwarded to reach the Secretary, Postgraduate School, the University of Uyo on or before [yet to be announced].
