It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that the Makerere University (MAK) College of Health Sciences, School of Medicine, is offering the undergraduate and postgraduate medical programmes for the 2022/2023 academic year leading to the award of Bachelor’s, Masters and Doctorate Degrees.

The School of Medicine (SoM) is one of the four Schools that constitute Makerere University College of Health Sciences (MakCHS). The School started as a Faculty of Medicine in 1924 and was transformed into the School of Medicine in 2009 with 14 academic departments.

The teaching staff are both from MakCHS and the Ministry of Health. The School’s campus is located on Mulago Hill, Northeast of Kampala, with Mulago and Butabika National Referral hospitals and Kiruddu and Kawempe hospitals as the major teaching hospitals.

The School of Medicine has active collaborations with various Universities outside Uganda and strives to adhere to excellence in training, research and service to patients with the highest level of professionalism.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS, and SPECIAL CASES.

MAK SCHOOL OF MEDICINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE & ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Entry Requirements: 

• For Undergraduate Applicants; Have the Uganda Certificate of Education with at least (five passes), or its equivalent and at least two principal passes at Advanced Level obtained at the same sitting
• For Masters Applicants; A good first degree in medical related courses with at least a Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University.
• Applicants with B.Sc. in the medical or Physical Sciences will be considered.
•  Applicants with a Third class in related fields, with at least two years (2) industry experience may be considered. Such applicants must provide evidence of having postgraduate diploma certificate.
• Applicants must submit the following with applications:
  • Detailed Curriculum Vitae.
  • Certified copies of transcripts and certificates.
  • Personal statement of not more than 500 words (1½ pages) detailing your motivation for wanting to study the Course and what you believe you will gain from it.
