Application for the VUU Actionable Business Plan Competition in Uganda – 2019/2020 Entry is now open at the Virtual University of Uganda, VUU in Uganda.
The Virtual University of Uganda is offering its first actionable business plan competition that will catalyze a culture of innovative, actionable problem-solving at VUU and encourage ethical, socially responsible business development in Uganda and beyond. This will be an annual event. This competition is being sponsored by an American company whose owner has ties to Uganda, Kidesa Microventures. The company is currently focused on investing in micro and small business startups in Uganda.
The top three winners will receive a monetary award of two million Uganda shillings, one million Uganda shillings and five hundred thousand Uganda shillings respectively. This award can be used for the business or for any other purpose. It will be divided among team members as indicated in the business plan that is submitted. In addition, teams will meet with one or more investors and discuss equity investments in the company. Teams are not required to take on any equity investments from investors.
The Virtual University of Uganda (VUU) is a private university, fully licensed by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education and recognized by other Higher Education accrediting authorities. It is a member of the Inter-University Council for East Africa and other regional university fora.
VUU ACTIONABLE BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the MUBS Disabilities Scholarship;
- All business teams must include one or more VUU students who play a primary role in the business and hold equity if equity has been distributed.
- In addition, alumni or non-students may also serve as members of teams.

The application Timelines/deadline is given as follows:
- Business Concept Paper Submission (on or before 31st December 2019)
- Judging and selection of winning concept papers for next round. (28th February 2020)
- Submission of Business Plan (30th April 2020 )
- Award of Business Plan Prizes (29th May 2020)
Late submission will not be accepted.
