This article contains information on the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) 2022 allowance updates for Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) students. It contains the schedule, categories of people to receive the allowances and the method of payment.

Kindly note that the Financial Aid will be disbursing 2022 allowances to NSFAS qualifying students based on the received funding decisions from NSFAS. Please note that NSFAS will be releasing a payment to the university when they receive the Tranche in April 2022.
The table attached indicates the 2022 allowances that are applicable to different categories of accommodation. Allowances are payable from February to November 2022. All NSFAS qualifying students (New Applicants and first time entrants at CPUT) are urged to capture their banking details to facilitate the processing of your allowances before 4 March 2022 close of business, please find the link below https://opa.cput.ac.za/index.php/upload-bank-details.
* 2022 continuing NSFAS qualifying students (funded by NSFAS in 2021 at CPUT ) are not required to provide the banking details. We have verified the existing bank accounts and we will be sending an email to confirm that your account is valid.
All NSFAS qualifying students are therefore urged to keep their bank accounts active to avoid delays in disbursing your monthly allowance.

Please note:
  • The learning material allowances must be used for the purchase of academic books and materials and/ or a learning device.

  • Only one learning material allowance is provided per student per academic year.
  • A student who is receiving financial aid from NSFAS for the first time is required to purchase a digital learning device (laptop) in that year of study if the student is not in possession of a digital learning device already.
  • New applicants will be required to confirm if they have a laptop prior processing the learning material allowance
  • Living allowance – R1 500 (per month) for residence and non- residence students
  • Transport – R750 (per month) non-residence – applicable to students living at home only
  • We expect to disburse allowances from April 2022 upon NSFAS releasing a payment to the university.

  • Kindly note that we are currently verifying the NSFAS funded lists to prepare the registration templates and upload to NSFAS. Please ensure that your accommodation costs are billed to enable us to process the correct allowances.
