STELLENBOSCH UNIVERSITY MYSUN WEBMAIL
Stellenbosch University has migrated its email services to the Microsoft 365 platform. Students can access their institutional email through the following official channels for 2026:
- My.SUN Student Portal (Recommended): https://my.sun.ac.za — Log in, then go to Undergraduate > GENERAL > Web E-mail
- Direct Webmail Link: https://su.sun.ac.za/webmail
- Microsoft 365 Portal (full suite of apps): https://portal.office.com
- Outlook Web App (direct inbox access): https://outlook.office.com
Important: Only use websites containing sun.ac.za, mymaties.com, or maties.com in the URL. Never enter your university password on any other site.
Student email access — how to log in:
- Go to any of the official URLs listed above.
- Enter your full institutional email address as your username: studentnumber@sun.ac.za (not just your student number).
- Enter your password.
- Complete the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) verification step. MFA is mandatory for all students from 2025 onwards. The recommended method is the Microsoft Authenticator app. An SMS code to your registered cellphone number is available as an alternative.
- You will then be logged in to your Microsoft 365 mailbox.
Setting up MFA for the first time: After entering your username and password at any SU Microsoft service, you will be prompted to set up MFA if not already done. Download the Microsoft Authenticator app, scan the QR code shown on screen, and follow the instructions. If you do not have a smartphone, select the SMS option and provide your registered cellphone number.
