This article contains information on the University of Zambia, the UNZA application form, and requirements for admission into the School of Law undergraduate degree, diploma, and postgraduate programmes for the 2024/2025 intake.

The University of Zambia, UNZA School of Law, has been operational for over forty years and continues to enjoy recognition not only as one of the oldest schools in the university but also as the most prestigious law school in the country. The school enjoys a symbiotic relationship with the university. On the one hand, the school is hosted by and derives much of its recognition from the university, and on the other hand, the school’s reputation brings a certain amount of prestige to the university.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON SCHOOL LEAVERS and SPECIAL CASES.

UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA ADMISSION APPLICATION GUIDELINES

  • Application forms can be obtained from Customer Care, UNZA Great East Road campus, upon payment of a non-refundable application fee of K150.00 for Zambians or USD 60.00 for non-Zambians.
  • Payment for application forms should be made either at Standard Chartered Bank, Account Number 0100110273800, or First National Bank Zambia (FNB), Account Number 62607694371. The account name is UNZA Registrars Department.
  • Application forms can also be downloaded from the official UNZA website, www.unza.zm or obtained from the University of Zambia Provincial Centres Offices. In this case, the application fee still has to be paid at the bank.
  • All correspondence relating to admissions should be addressed to: The Deputy Registrar (Academic Affairs), The University of Zambia, P.O. Box 32379, Lusaka, Zambia.
  • No application is valid unless the appropriate application fee has been paid.

UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES (DIRECT ENTRY)

1. BACHELOR OF LAW (LLB)

The degree requirements for the part-time programme are the same as the degree requirements for the full-time programme.
To qualify for direct admission to the LLB programme, a candidate must hold:

  • 5 credit passes at ‘O’ level, including English; AND
  • A first degree in any discipline from a recognised university; Or
  • A professional qualification equivalent to a degree (e.g. ACCA); Or;
  • 3 passes at Cambridge ‘A’ level or the equivalent; Or
  • A diploma in law from the University of Zambia or from the National Institute of Public Administration. Diplomas in law from foreign institutions will be considered on their respective merits on a case-by-case basis.
  • A Certificate in Legal Studies (CLS) from the University of Zambia.
    Please note that meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission to the programme. Admission to the programme is subject to the availability of places.

2. CERTIFICATE IN LEGAL STUDIES PROGRAMME

The University of Zambia School of Law is offering a Certificate in Legal Studies for the
duration of one academic term.
Entry requirements for the programme are:

  • 5 Credit O’ Levels.
  • Upon completion of the certificate, graduates may apply for direct entry into the LLB programme.
  • Please note that meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission to the
    programme. Admission to the programme is subject to the availability of places.
POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

The University of Zambia School of Law is offering the following postgraduate programmes:

1. ONE YEAR MASTER OF LAWS DEGREE, LL.M

  • Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia or any other recognised university.

2. MASTER OF LAWS DEGREE, LL.M (BY RESEARCH)

  • Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia or any
    other recognised university with a merit or upper credit or its equivalent.

3. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN GENDER AND THE LAW

  • Applicants must possess a degree in any discipline from a recognised university. Provided preference may be given to applicants with relevant experience in the field of gender or related fields; and
  • Applicants should have the ability to work with both legal and non-legal materials in the English language.

The closing date for submitting application forms is Friday, December 31, 2024. Applications received after December 31, 2019 will not be processed.

  1. How am i going to be informed whether i have been accepted by the UNIVERSITY OF ZAMBIA on LEGAL STUDIES if i am not a Zambian,for instances i am from Zimbabwe in Bulawayo…Do i have to come to Zambia for inquiries or you guys will send me an email notifying me whether i have been accepted?
