It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that the University of Zambia, UNZA School of Law, is offering the under-listed programmes for the 2024/2025 academic year commencing October 2022, leading to the award of Masters and PhD Degrees.

• PH. D – LAW
• MASTER OF LAWS DEGREE, LL.M (BY RESEARCH)
• ONE YEAR FULLTIME TAUGHT MASTER OF LAWS DEGREE (LL.M)
• POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN WOMEN,GENDER AND THE LAW

Applications are invited from suitably qualified SCHOOL LEAVERS, NON-SCHOOL LEAVERS, and SPECIAL CASES.

UNZA SCHOOL OF LAW APPLICATION PROCEDURE & ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Entry Requirements: 

1.  PH. D – LAW

Requirements: a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) Degree and a Master of Laws (LL.M) Degree from the University of Zambia or any other recognized university.

Applicants may be subjected to an interview to complete assessment of suitability for admission on the programme. First year Ph.D. students are required to take the compulsory Legal Research Methods course and as a taught component,classes for the Legal Research Methods course may be offered in the evening.

2.   MASTER OF LAWS DEGREE,LL.M (BY RESEARCH)

Requirements: a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia or any other recognized university with at least merit or its equivalent. Applicants will also be subjected to an interview to complete assessment of suitability for admission on the programme. First year LL.M students by Research are required to take the compulsory Legal Research Methods course and as a taught component classes for the Legal Research Methods course may be offered in the evening.

3.   ONE YEAR FULLTIME TAUGHT MASTER OF LAWS DEGREE (LL.M) (classes for this degree are held in the evening)

The programme offers options for specialisation in Commercial law and Constitutional Law.Requirements: Applicants must possess a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Zambia or any other recognized university.

4. POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA INWOMEN,GENDER AND THE LAW (the classes for this diploma are offered in the evening) Requirements:

• Applicants must possess a minimum of a basic degree in a relevant Provided preference may be given to applicants with relevant experience in the field of gender or related fields; and
• Applicants should have the ability to work with both legal and non-legal materials in the English l

Application Procedure

All applicants are required to use the UNZA School of Law online application portal to apply.

Attach to the application certified copies of relevant academic and professional certificates, referee and ‘O’ Level certificate with a pass in English as evidence of proficiency in the English language as the language of instruction at the University of Zambia is English.Completed application forms should be accompanied with the bank payment of the non-refundable application fee of K 150.00 for Zambians and USD 60.00 for non-Zambians. To enable you make the payment for your application fee, a bill master form with your personal details will be generated from the system after completing your online application process which you should download and present to any nearest ZANACO bank to you.

Please note that meeting the minimum entry requirements to any of these programmes does not guarantee admission on to a programme. Admission to a programme is subject to availability of places.

Application Deadline

• The closing date for submitting APPLICATION FORMS is yet to be announced.  Applications received after the closing date will not be processed.
