For admission into programmes of study at the Catholic University of Zimbabwe (CUZ for any first degree or second degree, an applicant must have the following requirements for successful admission:

Minimum Entry Requirements for Undergraduate Programmes

Faculty Of Commerce

5 “O” levels, including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least 2 “A” levels
OR
Mature entry for applicants above 25 years of age with O” level passes and relevant work experience
Entry Requirements For Bachelor of Theology Honours
5 “O” levels, including English Language, plus at least 2 “A” levels
OR
Holders of a Diploma or Certificate in Theology, Religious Studies, or Biblical Studies
OR
Mature entry, 25 years and above, with Pastoral Ministry experience
Faculty Of Commerce
5 “O” levels, including English Language, plus at least 2 “A” levels
OR
Holders of at least 5 Olevel passes, including English Language, plus a certificate or diploma in Education
OR
Mature entry for applicants above 25 years of age with 5 O” level passes and relevant work experience

Entry requirements for a Postgraduate degree programme

A Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited University in a subject or subjects relevant to the course applied for

Entry requirements for a Masters degree programme
  • An applicant must have passed English Language at Ordinary Level or an approved equivalent.
  • Normally, an applicant must have obtained an appropriate honours Degree in the Upper Second or higher Division.
  • An applicant who has obtained an appropriate honours Degree in the Lower Second Division may be considered, provided that he or she has achieved first- or upper-second-class performance in their intended field of study.
  • An applicant who has obtained a non-honours degree or approved equivalent qualification and has relevant experience may be considered by the Senate on the recommendation of the Department and the Dean concerned. Such an applicant may be required to pass a qualifying examination set and organised by the Department concerned, which shall inform the Senate, through the Faculty Higher Degrees Committee, of the results of the examination. The candidate must satisfy the examiners in the qualifying examination prior to the Senate’s decision on their acceptability for admission.
Entry requirements for a PhD degree programme
  • An applicant must have obtained an appropriate Masters Degree or have satisfied the requirements for transfer of registration from the MPhil Degree to the DPhil degree.
