The application for the Amref Johnson and Johnson Advanced Nursing Education Bursary for the academic year 2022/2023 is now open by Amref Johnson and Johnson Advanced Nursing Education for all South Africans in South Africa.
Amref Johnson and Johnson hereby invites all outstanding students to apply for the 2023/2024 Bursary. The Amref Johnson and Johnson Foundation has set-up a tertiary bursary fund to bolster capacity, expertise, and work opportunities related to the Nursing sector. It is intended for tertiary students at the undergraduate level. Amref Johnson and Johnson Advanced Nursing Education has allocated a bursary fund specifically for the following fields below.
Amref, with funding from Johnson & Johnson Foundation, is partnering with Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) to set up the Advanced Nursing Education Fund. The Fund also aims to offer flexible and affordable study loans to nurses and midwives pursuing advanced and specialized courses (Higher Diploma, Undergraduate, Masters and PHO) in approved Training Institutions in Kenya

The fund is open to nurses admitted for Midwifery, Nursing Higher Diploma (Specialization), Degree, Masters and PhD in Nursing in recognized training institutions based in Kenya.

HOW TO APPLY FOR AMREF JOHNSON AND JOHNSON ADVANCED NURSING EDUCATION BURSARY
Applications must be submitted online at:
- Applicants should visit the HELB website www.helb.co.ke to access the HELB Student portal to register, create and activate account (ensure you use your personal mobile number).
- Log in, and click Loan Application Tab, on the left dashboard.
- From the view window, select and fill the J&J Foundation Advanced Nursing Education Fund.
- Read and agree to the Consent for the Collection and Processing of Personal Data.
- Access And fill the application form(s) online.
- Read, understand and sign to accept the Terms and Conditions and Consent for the Collection and Processing of Personal Data.
- Ensure the forms are appropriately filed, signed, and stamped by the relevant authorities. The Guide is provided on the last page of the form.
- Print TWO copies of the duly filled Application Forms. Ensure you preview the form and correct where necessary before printing.
- Present one copy of the duly filled Loan Application Form and all the attached support documents at the centers below:
- At the HELB Desk in select Huduma Centers.
- HELB Offices, Anniversary Towers, Mezzanine 1st Floor University Way, Nairobi.
- Retain a copy of the duly filled. and signed Application Form
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS
- Completed applications need to be submitted on or before 30th June 2023. Late applications will not be considered.

I am concerned that some nurses pursuing higher degrees may not access this facility. Reason being that the secretariat at HELB insist that the course must have the word nursing. Fair enough, but when it comes to PhD really how many universities locally have that. If for instance a nurse is pursuing doctorate in medical education, public health, informatics etc. How is it that is not eligible to apply. Maybe need to relook at that in future. Thanks
