This article seeks to give updates on the opening dates of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) for new students in Kenya.
While the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Services (KUCCPS) admitted 6008 (3,329 male and 2,679 female) to join JKUAT, over 500 additional new students opted to transfer to JKUAT from institutions they had earlier been admitted to. Interestingly, there are also about 2,500 students who have further been admitted as self-sponsored
The University’s registration and lectures are conducted online via Learning Management System such as the Moodle and Google Classroom, while KENET Big Blue Button, Zoom, Google Meet video conferencing tools are used for online interactive discussions between faculty and students.

LATEST UPDATES ON JKUAT OPENING DATES FOR NEW STUDENTS
Reporting and registration for first year students admitted to various programmes at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) for the 2020/2021 commences on Wednesday, September 2, 2020.
The week-long activities to be done virtually because of the current global pandemic health protocols, will, among other things, include various aspects of orientation with the climax being the official welcome address by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victoria Wambui Ngumi on Monday, September 7, 2020.
It will be important to note that JKUAT’s admissions have for the last three consecutive years been top, making it the most preferred institution of higher learning in the country according to KUCCPS statistics. In 2017/2018, the University admitted 4,886 students. In 2018/2019, 5,901 were admitted, while a total of 6,008 students were admitted this year (2022/2023).
The first semester for the academic year 2020/2021 starts September 1, 2020 and ends December 18, 2020.
