Following the COVID – 19 Pandemic, this article seeks to give updates on the Closure and opening dates of Riara University in Kenya.
Following the confirmation of several cases of the Global health pandemic (COVID – 19) in Kenya, the President of the Republic of Kenya has directed that learning in all educational institutions be suspended with immediate effect. These include a ban on international travel, limitations on domestic travel, advice against gatherings of more than 100 people and controls on entry points. This, in turn, has affected the gathering of students in classes nationwide.
As a measure to combat the spread of this contagious virus, universities across Kenya including Riara University have now been forced to suspend classes indefinitely and move the term’s recess to an earlier date. Students are advised to take precautionary measures to avoid contracting this virus.
Therefore, we have compiled the latest updates on the Riara University closure and opening dates:
CORONAVIRUS: LATEST UPDATES FROM THE RIARA UNIVERSITY
In consideration of the various directives by the Government including by H.E. the President, and considering that the directives may remain in force for several weeks, the Riara University Senate in a special sitting today directed as follows:
- Physical classes remain suspended until the ban is lifted and the government allows the resumption of full learning activities.
- All classes have been moved to the Online Learning Portal of the University.
- Lecturers to post all the learning resources for the remainder of the semester to the Online Portal for Students to access them forthwith.
- All Students, are required to login to the portal and access all your classes. If you have any difficulties accessing the portal, please notify ict@riarauniversity.ac.ke.
- The electronic resources of the University will continue to be available through the usual means. In case of any difficulties accessing the e-resources, please email library@riarauniversity.ac.ke.
- Further to the above, the Aspiring Innovator Intervarsity Competition and the Dubai Trip have also been rescheduled to a later date to be communicated in due course.
