UON Student Portal Login Guide: smis.uonbi.ac.ke

HOW TO ACCESS/LOGIN TO THE UON STUDENT PORTAL

1. Access the SMIS Portal:

• Visit the official University of Nairobi SMIS portal: smis.uonbi.ac.ke.

2. Enter Login Credentials:

• On the login page, fill in the following fields:
  • Registration Number:
    • Enter your Student Registration Number (e.g., SH25/12345/2020).
    • Format Note:
    • Use 0 (zero), not the letter O.
    • Use the letter I, not the digit 1 (e.g., in codes like 120/...).
  • Password:
    • Initial Password: Use your:
    • National ID number,
    • Passport number,
    • KOSI Index No., or
    • Application Reference No. (for new students).

3. New Students: Retrieve Registration Number:

If you are a new student and have not yet received your Registration Number:

1. Click Enter Application Ref. No as it appears in your Letter of Offer.
2. Input your Application Reference No. (from your admission letter).
3. Click [Get Allocated Registration No] to retrieve your Student Registration Number.

4. Log In:

1. After entering your credentials, click the [Login] button.

5. Change Initial Password (Recommended):

1. After first login, navigate to your profile settings to reset your password for security.

6. Forgotten Password?:

If you cannot log in:

1. Click [Script your password] (likely a typo for “Reset”).
2. Follow the prompts or contact UoN’s ICT Support for assistance.

HOW TO RECOVER YOUR UON STUDENT PORTAL FORGOTTEN PASSWORD?

If login fails, double-check:

• Registration Number formatting (e.g., 0 vs. O, I vs. 1).
• Password input (case-sensitive).
• Clear browser cache or try a different browser if the page loads incorrectly.
