We are pleased and excited to announce to you that the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, CPUT Online Application for the 2023/2024 academic year as the application for 2022/2023 is closed. Therefore, all interested and qualified applicants should take note. We are not just making this announcement known but also providing various steps on how to apply online for the CPUT admission.  

CPUT Online Application

Gather all the necessary documents and get ready to follow the steps on our website to a successful CPUT online application. We will try as much as possible to make your application smooth and seamless. But before we proceed, remember this application is open to all prospective undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate students. The only thing you need right now to apply for admission to the prestigious Cape Peninsula University of Technology is for you to be eligible and ready.  

The Management of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, CPUT are no stranger to technology as they have made this application exclusively online unlike the rigorous task of going through the paper-based application (only when necessary). This is why they opened an application portal for all high school leavers and those trying to further their studies either through part- time or full time.  

Brace up and read along, as we guide you through the CPUT online application procedure for the 2023/2024 Academic year.  

STEPS ON HOW TO APPLY ONLINE FOR CPUT ADMISSION  

To use the CPUT online application feature, you must have a working internet device, a valid email address which is not shared with another CPUT applicant, your South African identity number, or, if you are an international applicant, and your passport number. Kindly follow the easy steps below to apply online for CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology Online Application) admission:  

STEP 1 – Apply Online  

  • Please apply online via the CPUT Application Portal if you are enrolling for Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Study Abroad or Graduate School of Business Exchange Program. 
  • Kindly follow the prompt to start your application.
  • You will then be required to read and consent to CPUT’s privacy notice before you can continue.
  • You will then be required to fill in Your name, surname, and identity number or passport number must be filled in exactly as they are written in your identity document or passport.
  • When filling in the qualification you want to study, make sure that you use the correct name of the qualification. Check the name of the qualification on the CPUT website or in the prospectus booklet.
  • Applicants are limited to three choices (to be filled in on one form). Any further applications will be discarded.
  • If you want to stay in a CPUT residence, tick Yes in the appropriate block and complete the residence application form at the back of the application form. You will not be allocated a place in a residence if you do not tick Yes and complete the residence application form. Residence space is not guaranteed.
  • You address is the address where you live permanently. Ask your parents for a municipal bill and copy the address from the bill.
  • Even if you are going to apply for a bursary or loan you must fill in the details of the person who is responsible for paying your fees since bursaries and loans are not guaranteed.
  • When you are done, kindly click on the ‘Submit‘ button to get your application submitted.

STEP 2 – Acknowledgement of Application  

  • You will receive an email confirming online submission of your application immediately. 
  • Within few working days, you should receive formal acknowledgment of your application.
  • Note this acknowledgement does not mean you’ve been accepted or admitted to CPUT. 

STEP 3 – Upload Supporting Documents  

  • Each document must be scanned, saved and uploaded individually against each uploading Certificate code.
  • All documents should be scanned in any of the following file types: tiff, pdf, jpg or gif
  • The maximum scanned file size is 2MB each.

STEP 4 – Acceptance of Offer  

When we update your application, you will receive an email communication. Please monitor your email account closely for updates. You can also check your status online with the log-in credentials that we will send you after you apply. We are not permitted to disclose your application status telephonically.

LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR CPUT ONLINE APPLICATION  

Documents to be submitted by South African citizens:

  • Copy of the proof of payment of your application fee (online application submission is free of charge).
  • A certified copy of the first page of your Identity Document.
  • A certified copy of your Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification. If you are currently in Grade 12, please submit your marks obtained in Grade 11.
  • Certified copies of the original Academic record and Certificate of Conduct, or certified copies of other certificates/ diplomas/ degrees you obtained previously from any other higher education institution.
  • Any other documents specifically required for the programme to which you are applying, as explained in the application form and admission requirements.

Documents to be submitted by non-South African citizens:

  • Certified copies of the following applicable documents (must be less than three (3) months old)
    1. Permanent Residency applicants: Passport and Proof of Permanent Residency/SA ID Document/Card
    2. Refugee/Asylum seeker temporary permit/formal recognition of refugee status in the RSA
    3. Passport
  • A certified copy of your school-leaving certificate, together with an English translation.
  • A scratch card (students from the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO).
  • Congo-Brazzaville applicants must submit the Liste des Admis au Bac
  • Sixth-year Bulletin: Diplom D’Etat and Journal and transcripts of results or Journal or Confirmation of Results from the Embassy (students from Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo or Cameroon).
  • International/Foreign Post-Basic Nursing applicants need to submit a document indicating approval of nursing qualifications from, and certified by, South African Qualification Authority (SAQA), in order to be provisionally accepted. Full acceptance will only be considered if the applicant also submits proof of temporary registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) for two (2) years, in addition to a valid study permit.
  • Any other documents specifically required for the programmes to which you are applying, as explained in the application form and special admission requirements

Applicants with approved qualifications obtained outside the Republic of South Africa (RSA):

An applicant may qualify for admission on the basis of qualifications obtained outside the RSA, whether they are SA citizens or not.  Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis.

  • School leaving certificate should be submitted with the English translation of the certificate
  • SAQA Evaluation certificate (see SAQA information outlined above) is mandatory and must be submitted together with your online or paper-based application

Foreign/International school-leaving certificates held by South African citizens:

  • SA citizens who are holders of foreign/international certificates (e.g. Cambridge International Examinations) can be admitted ONLY IF they meet the minimum requirements for studying at a university in South Africa, and in addition, meet the minimum admission requirements of the programme they are applying for (according to the faculty-specific requirements).  Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis.
