Matric Bachelor Pass Requirements

MATRIC PASS REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR’S DEGREE

SENIOR CERTIFICATE (AMENDED) SC(A) NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC)
Obtain 40% in your Home Language subject Obtain 40% in your Home Language subject
Obtain 50% in four other Higher Credit subjects Obtain 50% in four other Higher Credit subjects
Obtain 30% in one other subject Obtain 30% in two other subjects
APS – 21 APS – 23

MATRIC PASS REQUIREMENTS FOR SENIOR CERTIFICATE

SENIOR CERTIFICATE (AMENDED) SC(A) NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC)
Obtain 40% in your Home Language Obtain 40% in your Home Language
Obtain 40% in two other subjects Obtain 40% in two other subjects
30% in two other subjects 30% in three other subjects
APS – 13 APS – 15
  • Must obtain 40% in your Home Language.
  • Must obtain at least 40% in two other subjects.
  • Must obtain at least 30% for three other subjects.
  • It is important to note that one of your languages must either be English or Afrikaans to qualify for a Higher Certificate.

MATRIC PASS REQUIREMENTS FOR DIPLOMA

SENIOR CERTIFICATE (AMENDED) SC(A) NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC)
Obtain 40% for your Home Language Obtain 40% for your Home Language
Obtain 40% for four other High Credit subjects Obtain 40% for four other High Credit subjects
Obtain 30% for one other subject Obtain 30% for two other subjects
APS – 17 APS – 19
  • Must obtain at least 40% for your Home Language.
  • Must obtain at least 40% for three other High Credit subjects (Four, including your home language.).
  • Must obtain at least 30% for two other subjects.

MATRIC PASS REQUIREMENTS FOR HIGHER CERTIFICATE

SENIOR CERTIFICATE (AMENDED) SC(A) NATIONAL SENIOR CERTIFICATE (NSC)
Pass at least 3 subjects with a 40% score. One of these subjects should be an official home language. Obtain 40% in your Home Language
Pass at least 2 subjects with 30%. One of these subjects should be a First Additional Language or Home Language Obtain 40% in two other subjects
You are allowed to fail one subject. The minimum percentage you can get for this subject is 20%. 30% in three other subjects. You can fail one subject even if it is your First Additional Language BUT you must get 30% or more for the rest of the subjects

WHAT TO DO IF YOU FAILED YOUR MATRIC

If you have failed your matric. Here is a list of things that you can choose from:

  • You can register for Adult matric
  • Register at another school and repeat your matric year.
  • Get a remark.  When your papers are remarked, every answer will be marked again to see which answers are correct and which answers are incorrect.
  • Get a recheck.  When you get a recheck for your exam papers, they check to see that your results were added up correctly.
  • Study courses without matric.  Matric College offers a variety of courses that you can study without matric.
