NMU Application Closing Dates for 2026/2027

The management of Nelson Mandela University, NMU has opened the admissions portal for aspirants interested in running a programme at the institution at diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate level. Specific NMU application closing dates and deadlines have been set for admission registration as well as the closure of the admissions portal. It is advisable to apply early because of the limited admission slots available at NMU, as late entry may not be permitted.
The NMU application deadline or closing date is the submission timeline set by the institution for admission into any course of interest. South African universities generally have their submission deadlines between August and September each year.
Therefore, applicants are expected to meet the University’s minimum admission requirements and admission point score before proceeding with the application.
NELSON MANDELA UNIVERSITY APPLICATION DEADLINE
Applicants are required to take note of the NMU application deadlines below for the 2026 academic year:
- NMU Medical School (MBChB) Application Deadline: 30 June 2026 — NBT results must be submitted by no later than 31 July 2026. The NBT must be written by ALL school leavers or those enrolled in their first year of study at a higher education institution.
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) and Bachelor of Radiation Therapy — Diagnostic (BRad): 30 June 2026.
- 03 August 2026 — Early applications (all programmes except restricted Health Sciences qualifications)
- 30 September 2026 — Late applications (all programmes except restricted Health Sciences qualifications)
- 30 September 2026 — International student applications (undergraduate, excluding MBChB). Note: A separate official NMU postgraduate page states the international postgraduate deadline is “31 October of each year.” This conflicts with the 30 September 2026 deadline published by the International Office. International postgraduate applicants must contact both the Postgraduate School and the International Office to confirm the correct closing date for their specific programme.
Prospective students who wish to join Nelson Mandela University in 2027 are invited to apply online from April 2026. To allow adequate time for processing and planning, applications should be submitted well before the relevant deadline above.
The Nelson Mandela University Application Portal closes at 11:59 PM on the applicable closing date.
Places on some qualifications are limited. It is in your best interest to submit your application form and ALL supporting documentation before the closing date.
Admission decisions for first-time entering students will begin to be released from 14 January 2027. Applicants should monitor official NMU communications and consult the Official 2026 Academic Calendar for registration dates and the start of the academic year.
