“Sasol Foundation Bursaries – Apply now for financial assistance to pursue your tertiary education in South Africa!”

The Sasol Foundation Bursaries programme is an initiative by Sasol, an international integrated chemicals and energy company committed to educational development and youth empowerment in South Africa. The programme supports academically deserving students from low-income households and qualifying communities by providing financial assistance for undergraduate studies.

The Sasol Foundation has built a strong legacy of educational support through bursaries, research partnerships, and skills development programmes. The Foundation has awarded approximately 2,000 bursaries to students from disadvantaged and low-income backgrounds while continuing to invest in South Africa’s future workforce development.

This year, the bursaries are divided into the STEM and Non-STEM bursaries.

STEM bursaries

The Sasol Foundation offers an all-inclusive bursary to talented individuals planning to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) careers.

Priority will be given to studies aligned with future-focused and high-demand sectors including:

  • Engineering & Technology (including Green Technology)
  • Data Science
  • Agricultural Science
  • Environmental Sciences
  • Medical Sciences
  • Construction & Manufacturing
  • Financial Sciences

The bursary covers tuition fees, study materials, and a living allowance for qualifying students.

No postgraduate bursaries will be offered under the undergraduate Sasol Foundation bursary programme for the 2026 academic year.

Non-STEM bursaries

Non-STEM bursaries are reserved only for qualifying students from Sasol’s fence-line communities (municipalities and districts surrounding Sasol operations and plants), children of Sasol employees, and children of Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders who wish to pursue approved undergraduate non-STEM qualifications.

  1. These bursary opportunities are limited to South African citizens (by birth only) who are pursuing degree studies at a public South African University or University of Technology.
  2. The Sasol Foundation also offers STEM and Non-STEM bursaries for qualifying children of Sasol employees, Sasol Khanyisa/Inzalo shareholders, and applicants from Sasol fence-line communities.
  3. Sasol Foundation reserves the right to select qualifying applicants based on academic performance, household income verification, university acceptance, and South African citizenship requirements.
  4. Applicants currently in Grade 12 must submit their final Grade 11 results. Applicants who have completed Grade 12 or are already enrolled at a higher learning institution must submit their latest final academic results.
  5. The Sasol Foundation primarily supports undergraduate studies for the 2026/2027 academic year.
